Hi everybody,

I'm stuck at the beginning of the installation. Trying to update from Mavericks I have followed all the steps but when I try to boot to the installation menu it gives me a painful kernel panic.

"The IOUSBFamily did not receive enough extra current for the SuperSpeed device (HubDevice) at 0x15500000, asked for 400mA but got 0mA".

Tried to disconnect all the devices except mouse, keyboard and USB installer but nothing.
Tried to boot with -v -x -f flags and combinations of them but nothing.

What can I do, honey? I feel like the color blue!

Listen up Darling don't call me honey!!! (lol) - This is just an observation of mine - I am always amazed at some members building Hacks with very high specs in their rigs and they will settle with a lowly Mac model almost for the life of that rig so when ever there are any major updates, something goes pear shaped or breaks. The Mac model 3.1 pro was recommended in the early days because it was and in some instances still an easy place to start, but heck, since then look at the choices we have.
The key to it all is to compare your rig's specs to the specs of a real Mac model as close as possible to emulate that particular Mac model so that you won't break all your stuff when Apple releases any major updates.

Which port you are using for bootable USB connection??

Is there any USB Hub connected to ?? If yes, remove it.

Connect bootable USB,KB&MS to USB2.0 port. Avoid front panel and USB3.0.

If your motherboard have different USB ports which controlled by different chipsets, then try with each port.

Thanks!! I will try it and tell you :D

:headbang: Rock on!

I don't think the issues is with the usb I believe you should try some other boot flags such as cpus=1 if the issues was the jab I don't think it would say got boot device after all the jumbo about the usb it clearly is panicking over something else also you may wanna try PCIRootUID=1

Mmm none of that worked.

I recognize I don't know how to manage the MacPro Version update. I used Chameleon Wizard to upgrade to MacPro6.1 and later I used Unibeast to record again Yosemite in USB, but it keeps saying (in the installation) that I have the 3.1 model.

What I'm doing bad? :(

Is the BIOS running with latest available firmware??

Why you want to change it for installation??

By default Unibeast will use Mac Pro 3,1 system definition.

Hi again, yes, I have updated the bios to the last non-beta build, and nothing has changed.
I didn't know that system definition was for the installation.

Anyway, I'm stuck and I don't know what can I do.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Still the same panic?? Are using any USB Hub??

What are the devices connected to the USB ports??

What are the states of the options which related with USB on your BIOS??

I didn't know that system definition was for the installation.

System Definitions are not only for installation. I had asked to you why you want to change it for an installation??

Why because you have mentioned on the post#6 that you want to change it to MacPro 6,1

See your previous update below,
