Success Guide for Yosemite 10.10.3 with Clover - Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H BK
I used Yosemite 10.10.2 with Multibeast, but I always experienced random stuck situation when I was using multiple applications. This was really annoyed for me without any credibility of system. I saw the updated Yosemite version for 10.10.3 and I hoped to solve my situation with this version. I simply clicked for update and saw for boot panic.
Therefore, I decided to install 10.10.3 with Clover boot loader, it was new exploration with really long installation guide but it was quite kind for me, just following the guide was successful before not to see selection of Yosemite drive after installing Yosemite in the drive.
Let me introduce my system in below,
CPU: Intel 4790K
Memory: Samsung DDR3 32G (8G PC-12800 X 4)
Board: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK
Graphic Card: MSI Geforce 660TI
Cooling: Cooler Master Seidon 120V Plus
Case: H440 White
Power: Corsair CS650M 80Plus Gold
Storage: Samsung SSD 850 Evo, 830
I was previously suffered with my hardware and recently upgraded with above device for my system. I expected stable system but it was not. But now my system is quite stable after installing Yosemite 10.10.3 with Clover.
See below how I install Yosemite 10.10.3 with Clover
1. Using Mavericks Multibeast to install fresh Mavericks in order to download 10.10.3 from App store.
- My current system was not detect Geforce 660 TI automatically and I ignored this and just downloaded 10.3
2. Made bootable USB drive (You can see detailed guide here - http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/144426-how-install-os-x-yosemite-using-clover.html)
3. After installing Clover EFI installer, I copied and located below files in bootable USB.
It’s already created for 10.10 folder with recent Clover EFI.
- Navigate to /EFI/CLOVER/ and replace default config.plist with attached config.plist
>Use standard config.plist from above guide link
- Navigate to /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/ and create a folder called 10.10
- Navigate to /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.10/ and add FakeSMC.kext
- Navigate to /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.10/ and add your ethernet kext
- Navigate to /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.10/ and add NullCPUPowerManagement.kext
- Navigate to /EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI/ remove VBoxHfs-64.efi and add HFSPlus.efi
4. I was used USB 3.0 drive and I could see clover boot screen without any Boot Manager options.
Selected "Boot OS X Install from OS X Install OS X Yosemite" for 10.3 installation.
You’ll see option window to select 3 options, I simply selected Yosemite installation, then started Yosemite installation.
Progress window said that it takes 3 min. but it spend more time to install Yosemite. Be patient to see “restart” button.
5. After reboot the system, select again for "Boot OS X Install from OS X Install OS X Yosemite". I installed Yosemite again into prepared drive for Yosemite drive. and reboot again.
(I may not need this progress if I could see "Yosemite" drive after installation
6. After that I must see the drive for “Yosemite”, but I couldn’t. So, I repeated this for several times. And I almost gave up the installation. But I opened the case and switched SSD cable connection for native SATA from Marvell SATA. I could see “Yosemite” drive. Then, I could finalize Yosemite setup.
7. But Network was not working for me, So I used Multibeast in order to install network kext. and it’s working.
8. I’m using external USB sound card, so it’s automatically worked.
9. IOGear bluetooth worked well but my Sony MDR1RBT made crash for control panel. So, I just decided not to use Mic with MDR.
10. So far, there was no crash, no random panic, and multiple application worked well.
11. I installed recent NVIDIA driver for Mac and it’s correctly worked.
12. Even my MS bluetooth keyboard wake up my computer
Thanks for all any relevant post for installing Yosemite with Clover. I’m now free to use Yosemite 10.10.3
