In post 170 of the Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.10.0, user bomerr reports making a successful build with X99/Haswell-E, (including working iMessage) using a "blended" solution of UniBeast/MultiBeast (the OP), followed by installation of Clover & various file copying & configuration tasks. (congrats!)

However, IMHO, I'm finding the instructions a bit incomplete, and would ask that bomerr or anyone else who has success with this method please provide a bit more detail & fill in some gaps. Here's a log of my experience in the past hour while following the instructions found in post 170 linked above:

Basically, I believe bomerr is saying that he followed the 10.10.0 / X99 Temporary Guide here and used UniBeast/MultiBeast installation to get system working (with exception of iMessage), as detailed in his steps 1-14. Then starting on step 15, you must now install Clover on the working system... making sure to click "Customize" and select options listed in step 15. FWIW, I think the last option bomerr calls "Panel" is really "Install Clover Preferences Pane" in Clover installer.

Now in step 16 his instructions are to copy over the various kexts from the working UniBeast/MultiBeast build over to Clover. What seems to be missing is WHERE you need to copy them. After reading Tonymac's Yosemite + Clover installer guide, it looks like you need to navigate to the new EFI partition that is created by Clover installer (now should be visible on your desktop).

Navigate to EFI partition > EFI folder > Clover folder > kexts. Create a new folder called 10.10. Is this where the kexts need to go?? . I did not have all the kexts that bomerr listed installed on my computer - he may not be using ASUS X99 board. So in my 10.10 folder, I have: AHCIPortinjector, AppleIntelE1000e, FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerManagement, and VoodooTSCSync kexts.

Now in step 17 he says to use Clover Configurator to set boot arguments. When I open the CC app, CC seems to find 3 config.plist files on my machine. bomerr's instructions don't specify which config.plist you need to modify. Based on my interpretation of Tonymac's Yosemite + Clover installer guide, I assumed it is the one that is located in EFI partition > EFI folder > CLOVER. Is this correct? Or a different one? Or does one need to modify all 3 config.plist files?? Please advise...

Double-clicking the one I mention above opens it & now I am ready to make edits. Use the navigation bar along the left side of the app, I click Boot. I locate and select/"check" the options for npci=0x2000, nvda_drv=1, and kext-dev-mode=1.

Now I click SMBIOS in the navigation bar and type in the correct Mac model I want to use (I'm trying iMac14,2). In step 18, bomerr says to play around with a few other settings on this page in order to get iMessage working. I did not try this at this time.

Here's where I get hung up: bomerr's instructions never provide details on how to complete the process: do you simply "save" the changes you've made to the config.plist file you opened? or do you use the Generate Config option in the navigation bar on the left? And another thing that is not clear: Does this mean that, at the completion of the CC process, now you are booting using Clover boot loader vs. Chameleon boot loader? Or is there another missing step? How do you now set your system to boot with the new Clover configuration vs. Chameleon??

I simply saved the config.plist changes, then exited Clover Configurator. I then rebooted. Upon reboot, my machine still boots from Chameleon boot loader.

Please do not construe any of this as me trying to throw bomerr under the bus - I'm just trying to identify some gaps in the steps to success in order for others of us to be able to try & get this alternate solution working (thinking samtimbaud for starters).

Thanks in advance for any additional info!

I will put my experiences as a new Clover user, reinstalled it so far 10 times until I got it to work, audio is not working for me yet, but will get there. Eventually.

Here are some answers to your questions.

10.10 folder should be created where all other 10.x folders are, mount your EFI partition with CC and copy it to /Volumes/EFI/EFI/Clover/kexts/, I copied just VoodooTSCSync.kext + kexts from Unibeast installation in folder 10.10

The right config is in /Volumes/EFI/EFI/Clover/config.plist.

Boot options on mine are kexts-dev-mode=1 npci=0x2000 nvda_drv=1

I use iMac 13,1 profile in SMBIOS, using flux magic wand, got iMessage to work without problem following the help thread in General help. You will probably need to call Apple to unblock your account, and you will need code displayed on error message, but other than that just follow instructions, so answer to your question is yes, generate SMBIOS and save the file.

You have only one bootloader, Chameleon or Clover, you chose which one should it be when you are done with install.

So this is what I did:
- install Yosemite as thread instructs with Unibeast as instructed on Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.10.0
- boot via Uniboot USB and install Clover as in instructions in thread Installation of Yosemite with Clover
- don't log on iCloud or iMessage
- install clover, NVidia drivers, etc.
- configure Clover with CC
- save settings and reboot
- if everything works follow thread How to fix iMessage

If you did everything properly Clover boot should display. I hope that I helped you a bit in finding answers.

I followed Kulla's proces:
So this is what I did:
- install Yosemite as thread instructs with Unibeast as instructed on Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.10.0
- boot via Uniboot USB and install Clover as in instructions in thread Installation of Yosemite with Clover
- don't log on iCloud or iMessage
- install clover, NVidia drivers, etc.
- configure Clover with CC
- save settings and reboot

I get Clover boot screen with several icons. When I double-click " Boot Mac OS X from Yosemite, I get white circle with \ ... what did you do to overcome this? (you said "OK now")... ??

UPDATE: Evidently I didn't know/understand how the SMBIOS screen in Clover Configurator works. I didn't know that you click the little magic wand icon on the right & choose your SMBIOS. Once I did that, then rebooted, BINGO...I'm in!

Clover gurus: is there a way to configure Clover so that I don't have to manually select which drive or partition each time I boot? I simply want my machine to boot without any interaction from me.

THANKS!

disable CSM manager in the bios then in the secure boot change to Other OS
then retry to boot with clover and normaly enjoy it

You must have been typing that reply at the same time I updated my post :) I was able to get it to boot properly because I had not done the SMBIOS settings properly in Clover Config. application. All working now...but I still went in & disabled CSM Manager, just to be safe.

Now I need to know how to get machine to not stop at Clover boot screen, but boot right into OSX... :)

Merci!

Hi BoomR - If you just want to automatically boot you can change the config.plist timeout setting. Set it to 0 and the OS will automatically be loaded. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that tip - I tried to set the timeout = 0 using Clover Configurator, as well as just manually patching it by opening config.plist with text editor. I still get Clover boot screen (it never "times out" and continues with OS X boot).
