I have a 10.6.8 build running on a Asus P5N73-AM and a USB to ethernet adapter (Asix AX88772 chipset).

The connection drops every few days, usually its when I'm maxing my connection out (downloading movies, streaming Netflix etc), or if I'm using another USB device at the same time (iPod, flash drive). It seems to be a bandwidth/buffer issue with USB - once I restart everything comes back up.

Ideas?

Just a heads up in case anyone comes across this...problem resolved.

The Asix AX88772 is the same chipset that the official Apple usb to ethernet adapter uses, but since it isn't the exact same device, the built in Apple driver wasn't exactly 100% compatible with it.

http://www.sustworks.com/site/news_usb_ethernet.html has an updated driver that works perfectly. I ran the update and now no dropping at all! This issue was really the only thing that was not working perfectly on my computer, and now that this is fixed my "Mac" is 100% stable.
