Newbie here please help:
I installed 10.6.7 on my machine everything went fine except for audio. I tried every single VoodoHDA package from MultiBeast 3.5.2 none of them worked.
After searching on google I found azalia.audio.pkg I installed it, audio works partially. Now i can't can't control volume via the the top panel. The volume slider works, but it does not raise or lower volume on my machine. For example, if I have to lower or raise volume for itunes. I have to do so in the application window itself. Front panel sound does not work only the rear panel works. I checked system preferences > Sound, this what I have for my output: HD audio output. I have a Ga-G41M-COMBO Motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, 4GB OZC Gold DDR2, PNY GeForce GT 220 1GB Graphic card.

Yes, I have because they caused kernel panic on boot.

Yes, I have done all that.

Hmm...i found a modified VoodooHDA on kexts.com. Jump to this site and search for VIA VT1708S. If you know which kext is installed by that *.pkg file you installed, please delete it from /S/L/E (or /E/E) before you install the driver from kext.com. Don't forget to rebuild kextcaches and repair the permissions after that. Then reboot

I just upgraded my system. Now, I have a GA-H55M-S2V Motherboard, Core i3 550, 4GB DDR3 and sound still does not work.

Ok, thanks a lot. after 5 hours I finally get sound working on my new system.
