USB-booting?

Hello!
Im not sure if this is a noob question, but i just got my second-hand supercomputer and i totaly want to run osx on it. The little thingy is, that i dont got the mac os-x install cd, i got the USB-version that came with my mb-air, and i just want to ask if i can use it or i got to find a way to merge it onto a cd...
I wanna be able to run protools and final cut again, my mb just cant handle it

You will need the retail version of Snow Leopard, not the version that comes bundled with a real Mac.
