According to reports, NVIDIA 5xx cards and AMD Radeon HD 6950 and 6970 work in Mountain Lion without any tweaks, workarounds, and fixes.

From that netkas link:

AndyStubbs reports that his 6970 still does not work on a hackintosh, only 6950's with the modified netkas BIOS do on real Macs :( Sad day.

Well- initial support is better than no support. I'm sure those dudes will keep testing.

We're not going to support trading and backporting kexts to Lion here. I'm only commenting on info I've seen around. In any case- it looks like the 69xx situation seems a bit immature and experimental at this point. Even in the new OS.

Reports from that netkas link are that the 7970 isn't even loading a driver. Even sadder day :(

I think ever since the Nvidia 9600GT fiasco Apple has been slow to support the latest GPU's. They seemingly wait to see if there are any issues with failures which is generally 4-6 months... Same happened with 6xxx series; though I'd expect some drivers at least being built for them, unless they are going for nvidia next time around? As someone mentioned the nvidia drivers is newer than PC's!

For me it works perfectly on a hack. Almost everything works great except iTunes it causes Kernel Panic.

According to the netkas post, no 6950 or 6970 support for hackintoshes - Andy thinks it is a chameleon issue. However, real Macs work.

In other news, someone says a 560Ti works fine on a hack with NO kext edits - completely OOB in MtLion

synnys, whats holding you back? I have a 2 GB AMD 6950 by HIS working almost perfectly in lion atm. All you need is the latest Chimera, ATY_init.kext, and netkas' patched ATIRadeonx3000.kext, ATIRadeonx3000GL.bundle, and ATI6000Controller.kext

EDIT: You will get a white screen at first boot. This is fixed by hitting the reset button and allowing it to boot again
