What the... I found this RAM which I am thinking about buying to use in that P4 system.

I am wondering why it says it won't work on Intel boards? I thought all DDR400 RAM was designed to JEDEC standards?

RAM on eBay: http://tinyurl.com/y86e8o6

This seems a little odd to me. Shame... cos it's nicely priced... although that'll be why.

I don't get it...

The RAM that is already in this board is definitely 400.

Hm... now I'm doubting myself. I'll grab a stick out when I get home this evening and check.

Also, it does say this on the spec page... Type: Dual Channel DDR 400/333

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Mot ... -8I915G-MF

Think it's worth a shot?

Having said that, this guy's return policy is practically - 'no returns' lol.

 S'ok ;)

Is there any reason why one type of DDR400 would be so different from another DDR400 that it would not work?

Wondering if it's something to do with this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM# ... _standards

This table shows the spec of DDR400 RAM... I'm no expert, but these figures don't match the ones on the eBay listing.

I dunno, can't see there being an issue with it unless the spd data is wrong or it uses some unusual configuration of memory chips.

In fact, you are right. The RAM is HD. Which I just found out is not supported in Intel / Dell boards - WITH THE EXCEPTION OF the 915 :D

It is a little prehistoric

And not cheap :(

How do I edit the title of the thread to include [SOLVED]?
