Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1333mhz 16G (4x4GB)

Gigabyte Windforce GTX 560 OC 1GB

TP-Link 881ND PCI-e wireless card

WD Blue Caviar 1TB hard drive

OCZ Arc 100 240GB SSD

Antec High Current Gamer 520W (non modular)

Note: I don't buy from Amazon or Newegg because they don't really ship to Australia very much. And when they do the shipping is extremely expensive. Additionally, most of the parts are ones I already owned or bought second hand, and as a result they are no longer sold. I have tried to add links for most of the parts though.

About this build
I love OS X, and I love building computers. As a result, I'm a keen hackintosher. I chose the components mostly for price-to-performance ratio, and because they were parts I already owned. I chose the motherboard for hackintosh compatibility. I chose the CPU for overclocking. This computer is mostly just general use but I game on it in my spare time too.

I followed the tonymacx86 guide for Clover Install http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/144426-how-install-os-x-yosemite-using-clover.html

I used the NVIDIA config.plist and add the basic kexts of FakeSMC.kext and NullCPUPowerManagement.kext. I also added RealtekRTL81xx.kext for ethernet. I added the IO80211Family.kext to enable my wifi, which I will attach. These all go in the "CLOVER/kexts/10.10/" folder.

I used the freezefix app from this tonymacx86 topic to fix the GTX560 display driver crashes. http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-...ermi-freeze-back-latest-drivers-10-8-3-a.html

I used the .command file from this topic to patch the ALC892 audio chipset. http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/143757-audio-realtek-alc-applehda-guide.html

I ran Multibeast and installed FakeSMC, FakeSMC plugins, and the HWMonitor app to monitor system stats.

Figuring out all the little fixes like the GTX560 freezing and stuff took several weeks so I hope that this guide helps other people in future.

If you want to use an SSD for hackintoshing, don't buy the OCZ Arc 100 240GB model, I've had file system corruption problems white resulted in having to reinstall OSX three times. I now run OSX off the hard drive and Windows seems to run fine on the SSD. Probably best to stick with the tried and tested Samsung drives recommended in the TonyMacx86 buyer's guide.

Hm. So you didn't have any trouble getting graphics working? My build is almost identical to yours except for the video card (EVGA 960 SC), mobo (UD5H for me), and case. But for some reason, I cant get anything above 1024x768 through the card. Works fine on integrated graphics.

jji7skyline you don't need NullCPUPowermanagement Z97 has native CPUPowermanagement

gaiaweylyn you need Nvidia Webdrivers for the 960

please make cinebench test with gtx graphic card!

Make sure you install NVIDIA's web drivers. They are required for Maxwell support. Make sure you're running OSX 10.10 :)

@jbamford: Oh awesome! I'll take out the NullCPUManagement kext and see what happens :)

@dmilith: Hm maybe it's because of nullcpumanagement disabling the turbo boost. I'll remove it and rerun Geekbench!

Nice build.. especially like the case..

couple of questions for you, i have virtually the same build only exception i'm using a 660TI for graphics and an i5 4670K.. It works almost perfectly but every now and then i get a cpu panic that crashes and restarts the whole thing..

Can you post your clover config ? and what memory profile setting are you using in the Gigabyte BIOS.. seems my problem is more frequent when i moved up to 16gb ram.. Thanks

I've heard that having Turbo Boost enabled can result in kernel panics on OSX. Not sure if that would be your problem but it might be worth having a look at it.

I'm just using the default RAM settings, and you probably should to. Misconfigured RAM can result in system instability.

My Clover config is just the default NVIDIA config that is posted on the Yosemite Clover guide topic.

Thanks for taking the time to reply..

I have already disabled turbo boost.. i actually found it more stable with the Profile 1 for Ram settings.
I might try the Nvida clover config.. Thanks again.

Thanks!
