I embarked on this journey of building my Hackintosh because I was just so doggone tired of my old computer just not keeping up with my gaming needs. I already upgraded everything in my husband's MBP, so he was zooming past me in LOTRO while I was glitching and stuttering through Rohan. So I decided I wanted to build my own rig. :)

When it came to choosing my hardware, I wanted performance and compatibility, something that wouldn't make me go bonkers for days/weeks/months. The Gigabyte mobo and Intel i7 were almost no-brainers.

I still have the video card not yet installed, the last time I tried to install it, I ended up having to wipe/reinstall Yosemite due to panic errors. So I'm going to try again probably later this week. Right now, I'm using the on-board DVI, which is actually pretty decent, but I want to get this GPU installed and working, hopefully soon. Right now, though, I'm happy with it.

For the entire install a-to-z, I went with the instructions in the Yosemite Desktop Guide http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...-x-yosemite-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

I didn't have to do really anything out of the ordinary, just followed through with those instructions, and boom, done. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.2 without an issue.

These are my Geekbench scores from this morning, without any OC and with using the onboard DVI:

I installed LOTRO and played last night, and it was beautiful! Really fluid movement, perfect responses to input (mouse movement/keyboard shortcuts), and the scenery shows so well detailed. :) And that's just with the on-board DVI, not using my GTX 760.

I'm super happy with the build, and wouldn't have been able to do it without the information provided by TonyMacx86 and the forum!!

Fixed your thread title and other formatting.

UPDATE: So I installed my Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 4GB OC GPU, and wow! She flies! :) I'll post updated benchmarks later.

Also, I installed the HGST 4TB NAS for my hubby and I to use to share/store files. LOL not to be outdone, my hubby went and purchased himself a 3TB backup drive to supplement his current 128GB SSD and 1.5TB HDD that I installed in place of his optical drive on his MBP. Hehehe, it's almost a competition.

He did tell me that he'll let me build him a hackintosh in a year or two, hehehe. Maybe he's a little jealous of me zipping around in LOTRO while he's sometimes stuttering through some locations (Gondor, Rohan, etc). :)

Anyhow, I'm super happy with it. Absolutely beautiful, quiet, cool temps (2 fans installed, plus the Windforce 3 on the GPU, and heatsink fan from Intel). Looking at getting another fan and a better CPU heatsink/fan since the Intel one doesn't seem good for OC'ing, plus it's kinda ugly.

Here are the updated pictures, with and without flash, with the GPU installed and both hard drives. I need to do something with the ugly molex adapters for the power supply to GPU, get a sleeve for them or something, they're hideous. But that's me being a total girl about it, hehe.

Thanks for lookin'! And again, couldn't have done this AT ALL without the amazing guide and forums here at TonyMacx86.com! :)

What happens when you try to boot? Do you get a panic, error, does it not boot?

I didn't have too much trouble setting it up and loading everything. My husband was rather impressed. Once I had all of the hardware, I had it put together and up and running within a day and a half.
