This is my first successful Mac OS X build. For the past 4-6 years all my systems were built with AMD CPUs.
I said to myself to try something new, to see how OS X is as an operating system and till now, I’m very happy with this choice.

A friend of mine told me, years ago, that he wanted me to build him a Hackintosh (since I’m a PC builder), but I had no idea then what a Hackintosh even means… Now I know! :) Love it!

Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, I do not own yet an OS X keyboard.

I just can’t wait for Yosemite!

Installation Notes

I followed exactly what is written in this link:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

I was very lucky since I did not have to use any flags.
Just for my curiosity, to see what's happening during installation, I used "-v". I did not remove the second video card, I did not disable the sound card or remove the Asus Xonar DX, did not disable network card.
I have 16GB of RAM and I did not use “maxmem=4096”, since it worked fine.

UEFI BIOS Settings

Since I use RAID 0 for Windows 8.1, I had to change from RAID to AHCI and disable the 2 ADATA SSDs
My CPU is oc-ed to 4.6GHz and I did not have to run it on the default speed.

MultiBeast 6.5.0 notes

After the 10.9.5 finished installing, I opened MultiBeast and selected "DSDT Free". Everything went smoothly.

After this, strange, but the network card "lost" the drivers and I had no connection to the internet.
Using MB again, I installed 3.1.0 drivers, worked like a charm.

Regarding the sound card, I installed ALC892 and Intel 9 Series MB Supp. After this, in Sound, I selected Internal Speakers. Now I have sound, on the green jack.

I also installed TRIM Enabler 10.9.4+ TRIM Patch for TRIM. It works.

I did not install Intel Generic AHCI SATA (in my first attempt after installing it, OS X froze and not even -x; -f; -F; UseKernelCache=No worked).

Congrats! Its been great build. Did you find a solution for frozen problem?

If you have a regular PC keyboard, you can modify you keys using the screenshot shown here. By default, AFAIK, the Windows key is mapped to Command key. So you can click Windows+Shift+4 or Windows+Shift+3 to take screenshots. You do not need to buy a Apple keyboard. I use a regular PC keyboard myself.

Thank you telepati.
No, I just left the default SATA driver, Generic AHCI Controller, and installed from MB 6.5 the TRIM support for activating the TRIM. I noticed that the 9 Series drivers from MB 6.5, offers native support for TRIM which means that you do not have to install the TRIM drivers from MB 6.5 anymore

Thank you sid411, it worked :)

Hello Dumi,

Looks like a cool build.
How happy are you with the Seidon 120V? Is it pretty quiet or not at all?
It's a really good overclock on that CPU you have, so this cooler has to be pretty good.
What are your temps like?

I'm having a tough time deciding on a case and cooler for my next build, and keep going back & forth between air and liquid. With liquid, I'm afraid the pump might die.

Thanks!

Hello

Very happy with it. No problems till now, it works fine.
The CPU is at [email protected] and the maximum temp. reached in XTU was 78 Celsius, which is ok. It's very important to being careful with its installation so that the heat sink touches the heat spreader of the CPU correctly. Of course the pump will die, no question about it, but why should this stop you since you have the stock cooler as a replacement till the water cooler is replaced. Go for it!

Hi guys

I bought a week ago the new Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming rev. 1.0 and unfortunately, no Mac OS X 10.9.5 for me anymore.
I managed to make an USB using UB with Yosemite while I was having the GTX 660, but now, no Yosemite for me. It just doesn't want to enter the installer. I get kernel panics or it stops at something about "Bluetooth" or it shows me a message about a firewall blocking something. I used all the flags showed in tony's guide for installing Yosemite, but it doesn't work. I tried installing Yosemite without the GTX 970, based on the IGP, again it showed me the type of errors I told you about. I'm so stuck right now!

Any ideas?
Thanks

Update 24-10-2014: I would like to thank user segr3do for writing in his post this flag: nv_disable=1. With it, I managed to install Yosemite because this flag disables the video card, the GTX 970. All those kernel panics, etc, that wouldn't let me enter installer, were because of the GTX 970
