Today I replaced my old GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H mainboard a with a new GIGABYTE GA-Q77M-D2H and installed Mavericks OSX 10.9.3
Why did I replace the GA-B75M-D3H? The GA-B75M-D3H worked fine with 10.8.2, but when I replaced my old power supply with the „be quiet! Straight Power E9 400W“ I had random system freezes. Also when using Windows 7 or even in BIOS. I tested the power supply with other PCs without having any problems. I also get a new one, but somehow it seemed, that the power supply and the GA-B75M-D3H were not compatible. So I bought a new GA-Q77M-D2H that came with BIOS version F2. I think this is the newest BIOS version at the moment.

I didn´t found any user build guide for the GA-Q77M-D2H running Mavericks so I decided to share my experience. First of all: the installation and configuration is very easy using this hardware and everything works fine for me:

Audio: works
Front audio: works
Optical audio: works
HDMI audio: not tested yet
Display: DVI and HDMI works. Dual Display: works
Sleep/Wake: works
Ethernet: works
iCloud: works
AppStore: works
TimeMachine: works
AirPlay Mirror: not tested yet
USB3: works

Mavericks Install Process:

  1. BIOS: Just use tony´s guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/99-quick-guide-configuring-uefi-gigabyte-s-7-series-lga-1155-boards.html
(Set everything back to factory default; then set SATA to Run AHCI; Peripherals - Set xHCI mode to AUTO; Enable xHCI and EHCI Hand-off; because of using a discrete graphics card I set Init Display First to PEG; Set internal Graphic memory to 64M)
  2. Download Mavericks 10.9.3 from the AppStore, run Unibeast 3.0.1 and install Mavericks 10.9.3. Also just use tony´s guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
Note: Because I am using a GTX 660 ti graphics card I used in „STEP 4: Install OS X Mavericks“ the boot flag „GraphicsEnabler=Yes“, but I am not sure if this is necessary
  3. Run Multibeast 6.3 with this settings:
    DSDT Free
    ALC887/888b Current
    3rd Party SATA
TRIM Enabler (because of using a SSD)
    FakeSMC
    Intel - AppleIntelE1000e v3.0.4.1a
    AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset
    Chimera v3.0.1
    Basic Boot Options
    Generate CPU States
    Hibernate - Desktop Mode
    Use KernelCache
1080p Display Mode (because of using a 1080p display)
    Mac Pro 3,1
    Tonymacx86 Black
  4. Reboot - Done

edit: Sleep/Wake works too

Try GE=No on bootup. I have a 650 Ti in Thunderball and Mavericks + Chimera v3 working with the default GE=No.

Thanks, but there was no problem at all. I just wanted to mention that I used GE=No for installation, but I don´t know if this was really necesarry at all.

Thanks for sharing !!

My custom is pretty much the same, only i use the Core i7 processor, and 16GB RAM, works as a charm :)
