Comments

After installing mac os on my old pc with success i decided to build this more compatible pc to replace it. The system is gonna be used for audio recording and video editing at my home studio.

Almost all parts have been chosen following buyer's guide May 2014 for CustoMac Pro, so all parts working out of the box without need of modifying any files or installing any kext. My only worry was about the RAM which is not included in buyer's guide, but it seems to run extremely good without any freezes or anything.
My bluetooth is from my HP Mini Netbook and it works fine with mobile devices, magic mouse and Apple keyboard.

Generally the whole system is quiet (the R4 case rocks!), stable and runs very smoothly and fast! I decided to place 4 CoolerMaster case fans and the Corsair H75 Hydro Cooler for possible overclocking.

What works

-USB 3.0 all front and rear ports
-Sleep
-FakeSMC Plugins + HW Monitor
-WiFi
-Bluetooth

Installation

I created a UniBeast USB stick with Mavericks following this guide.

BIOS Settings

-Set to Optimized Defaults
-Set X.M.P. Memory Profile to Profile1
-Set RAM frequency to 2200MHz
-Under "Peripherals" disable "Internal Graphics"
-Under "Power Management" disable "Wake On LAN"
-Save and exit.

Then just boot from USB and begin the installation. There is no need for any boot flags.

I used this guide to fix iMessage.

Benchmarks

A Mac Pro with Intel Xeon X5570 2930 MHz (8 Cores) scores 17825 in geekbench 3. My hack scores 17876 and costs less than half of the price! :D

Update 4/6/2014

Suddenly showed up the problem of rebooting after shutting down the pc. Disabling "Wake on LAN" solved the problem!

I tried the 20% performance upgrade on bios settings and I have a stable system running at 4.3GHz with low temps! Here is the geekbench 64-bit score.... :D

It seems that RAM runs pretty fast at 2200MHz...

Great build!
I am planning a Hackintosh for my son for music production (Logic) and have decided on an almost identical build (except the GPU - we'll probably go for some less powerful).

What music software and peripherals do you have hooked up to this work station?

Thanks!

If you don't need video editing or games then sure you don't need a graphics card, you can go with integrated card that's on the CPU.

Now i have my M-Audio interface via USB and the M-Audio midi controller and they both work great! But i'm planning an upgrade for the interface, too... :D
I run Logic, Kontakt, Native Instruments and Spectrasonics' plugins without any problems.

Thanks for this guide...my parts arrive tomorrow, i am excited. What bios version are you running?

You welcome! I believe you, i'm still excited after 1.5 month owning this build! I'm running F7. I tried to update via Q-Flash but it says that my Q-Flash version is outdaded. I have to make it in Windows via @Bios but I don't have them installed on my hack.

Thx again for your Guide :) Writing this on my Hackintosh
As of now, everything except iMessage works...will try your link containing the fix

edit:
Can confirm that the iMessage fix worked for me.
