System built for video and audio editing, graphic creation and color correction

Applications running on the system : FCP - Adobe Creative Suite - DaVinci Resolve 10 - Some music creation softwares

2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM in RAID 0 to store the medias involved in projects

2 x Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200 RPM in RAID 1 to store the medias for backup and archive

Power supply is very quiet.

I'm still using the stock Intel cooler. I may go for a water cooler if I ever plan on overclocking this machine.

I also use the inboard HD 4600 graphic interface. I’m experimenting with it until I choose a graphic card that fit my needs for color correction and 3D animation. Any suggestions are welcome !

Dual boot Maverick and Win 7

This is my first hackintosh build but won’t be the last. I remember in the 90’s, I was using ’SHAPESHIFTER’ software to emulate a MAC Classic on my Amiga 2000 equipped with Motorola 68020.
It’s like comparing an UNICYCLE and a HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE ![/B]

Hey there,

I am looking at using this motherboard as well. Does ThunderBolt work? Also, I assume like the other Z87 Gigabyte boards the BT and WIFI don't work with OSX?

Thanks for any insight you can give!

Hi monmonkey,

I'm now using one of the two Thunderbolt connection as a mini display port output for the Dell U2713H providing 2560 x1440 video signal to the monitor. Didn't have the chance to test a Thunderbolt device yet but I will receive a LaCie Rugged external thunderbolt hard disk in April then will be able to see how it works.

So, after applying the MultiBest Maverick recipe, almost everything worked fine (audio, video, Ethernet, Sata, ...) but no WIFi or BT. Then I found this very helpful thread from Kangooroos here explaining how to edit the IO80211Family.kext to enable the WI-FI. Since that manip, WiFi works like a charm - Thanks Kangooroos !

In the same thread, he also explained how to fix the Bluetooth but I didn't made that change since I don't need it right now.

Since 2 weeks I'm using this motherboard, I find it very stable and performant under Maverick. No hesitation to recommend it - hope Thunderbolt gonna work OK ...

I have a Similar Build.

Core i7-4770K
GA-Z87X-UD5-TH
32GB RAM
GTX 770
Samsung 500GB SSD
3TB HD

Thunderbolt is working great with my UA Apollo (had to boot in to windows and set Legacy Mode in Bios)

One Weird things is that some stuff isnt displayng on the top right bar. No Clock, Wifi and spotlight pops in and out. And some stuff doesnt seem to load on restarts.

Philter, I don't have those bugs on my system, is it an casual problem or clock and Wifi never displays? Sorry to ask the question but did you enable them to be display in system's preferences ?

Its something to do with the thunderbolt icon... when i click it everything disapears. seems to cause a crash of the icon bar.
