Hardware

CPU - Recognized properly and performs great in geekbench/cinebench. Recognized as 4 cores.

RAM - Recognized as G.Skill modules and usually the proper speed. The amount is always right, but it doesn't always get reported as 1600mhz RAM. It does not affect performance.

Wifi and Bluetooth - Worked OOB/Natively in the OS and Installer

USB3 - Works natively

Ethernet - Installed the Realtek patch just in case. It seems to work, though I haven't connected it to a router yet. It recognizes cords being plugged in, so that leads me to believe that it works.

Intel Graphics - Requires "Inject Intel" and ig-platform-id 0D220003.

SSD - Recognized as SSD and Internal (with patches by Clover), but without TRIM support. Enabled TRIM with Clover.

Audio ALC892 - Not recognized natively. I use Toleda's cloveralc patch. Audio ID is 1. Front panel audio works fine and switches appropriately. Using CodecCommander to keep audio alive after sleep.

Software

Bootloader is Clover. It works best with Yosemite and has given me no troubles on this build.

Boot arguments - kext-dev-mode=1 darkwake=8

All kexts are injected via Clover

SMBIOS is iMac 14,2. I previously ran Mac Pro 3,1 without issues but I changed to a more appropriate (and recent) definition. Better for future proofing.

iCloud, App Store, iTunes all work fine. iTunes will not play HDCP video which even real macs have issues with. I don't use iTunes for video, so this doesn't affect me.

iMessage and FTime work with help from Jay's How to Fix iMessage thread.

Dual Displays work fine. DVI to DVI and HDMI to DVI (system to monitor)

Issues

Once or twice, I have gone to unplug/plug a USB device and the system has rebooted all the way to BIOS. I never figured out what it was as is such a rare issue.

iPad will not charge at 2.1A through Hackintosh.

Updates:

Hey,
Great job.

Can you post your MultiBeast setting?

THank you.

Thanks!

I had some more comments typed up, but somehow it didn't save when I posted. I'll add that back in later.

I ran into a problem with the app store, saying it could not connect. I tried various methods of fixing it, like the ethernet id thing in chameleon plist, deleting and adding ethernet devices, etc. Turns out that after looking in Console, storeagent (the App Store app) could not read a file called com.apple.security.revocation. I deleted that and the com.apple.security file and logged off. I logged in and it works just like nothing had happened.

The above fix was found here-
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1168976

I'm thinking when I moved my User Library folder to the SSD with a symlink attached to it (the rest of my home folder is on a separate hard drive that I pulled out of my Macbook Pro), the file got corrupted or the permissions got messed up. Either way, this fixed it for me. I had to empty the trashes via Terminal as well.

I did get a funky App Store error when I updated iTunes with another update for Cloud; something about needing to login with the correct login (something of that sort). I let iTunes update, came back from the store and pressed Update All once more. It worked like nothing every happened. Odd.

Note: I updated to 10.9.2 today. I ran MultiBeast after the update+reboot to reinstall the audio patch and TRIM patch. A permissions repair and a reboot later everything was back to normal.

Day 3 and still running strong. Also, the speed of this SSD is insane. The write speed is quite lacking but the read times are amazing. Very impressed with the speed of this machine. The graphics even beats my MBP with dedicated 320m graphics.

I have a similar build (for my second computer, not listed under my name), same processor and mobo. my install went perfectly, I followed your multibeast guide - I'm having issues with the computer taking extremely long to open applications and complete tasks (boots very quickly, takes forever to restart though) - I am curious, did you have to change of the bios settings for your system to work properly?

Hey,

What settings did you change in the bios?

thank you.

What settings did you change in the bios?

  • I set RAM to XMP profile 1, although it was already set to 1600mhz out of the box. I figured why not
  • Vt-D to Disabled (Running a 4670, where as a 4670K doesn't have the capability)
  • xCHI and eCHI handoff(s) to enabled. I think I put the xCHI mode to Enabled as well. Never had any problems with it on Smart Auto.
  • I set the preferred graphics to IGFX, as I don't use a PCIE card (yet).
  • Maxed the integrated graphics ram to 1024 (scroll down in the list while in the bios, it's there)

I think that's it. I'll take a look and check to see what I actually have on there and report back.

What kind of drive do you have installed? The only issues I've had with this m500 SSD is to enabled TRIM through multibeast and to fix the boot0 error when booting from the SSD (the UniBeast flash drive negates this problem when booted from). Aside from those two things, it reads faster (booting and loading apps in this case) than anything I've ever used.

Your SATA mode is set to ACHI, right? Mine was OOB, so I haven't touched it. I would set to optimized defaults and use the above settings to get you going. If that doesn't work, Re-seat your SATA data cables or switch to another one. Make sure you're using the SATA 0 port on the mobo (top-right port on the motherboard. I've heard this can cause some issues, just in general.

VT -d.

for some reason this option is dimmed and I can't change it and it says "enabled"

I have problems to boot in to installation. I get panic.

I set Intel visualization technology to disable.

how do you change this option?

what other bios options did you change?

did you have problems booting in to the installer?

Used this bios settings to get to the installer........

secure boot - disable.
xCHI mode - disable.
CPUID - disable.

and the bios settings you provided.

took a minute or to to get to the installer but got there...

karleson,
Please fill out your Profile and signature block with your motherboard, processor and graphics card/method.

Profile System > motherboard make/model #
Profile CPU > Intel process model #
Profile Graphics > graphics make/model # (e.g., EVGA GTX 760)

By doing thus, you will help us help you better. Besides, we're not telepathic.
