About the Build...

This is the first system build depends entirely on tonymacx86.com recommendation component list. The other systems were all HP Desktop. I really enjoy the whole process and especially the results. It is a fast and stable machine with no drop downs or jams.

Thanks a lot to people like you spending your precious time building and recommending. It would be impossible to build such a nice machines without your valuable help. THANKS A LOT !

Installation... Mac OS-X 10.8.5 or Mac OS-X 10.9.(0 or 1 or 2)

1. After build all the components and test operability connect the monitor via HDMi or DVi. The standard vga output didn't work for me.

2. In bios Settings, reset to Bios Defaults.

3. Make sure that... a) xHCI =auto b) xHCI & EHCI Hand Off=enable and c) VD-T=DISABLE

4. Download the Unibeast and follow the Tonys 10.8.5 Guide or 10.9 Tonys Guide Here

5. After Complete the installation, boot with Unibeast and run MultiBeast selecting the settings as showing bellow...

Note Please note that i also enable trim support that it doesn't show up in the image bellow.

You can also read this How to know what to install with multibeast .

MultiBeast.jpg

6. Repair the permissions, shutdown, remove usb and start the computer.

7. Download Atheros Kext for TP-Link WN881ND... Thanks to this Guide

8. Restart and update via app store.

Installation... Win 8.1

Now its time to install Win8.1 and Dual Boot via Unibeast... Although i found a lot of information on the net suggesting various boot loaders and installation process, i took the chance and installed via this Guide .

For simplicity i will give you my initial steps...

1. Change/Resize the partition table in OSX into 2 Partition Scene. The first one is the MAC OSX , so don't touch it, and i made a second one formatted in MSDOS-FAT. Make sure to NAME your partitions accordingly for making easy to select the right one in win installation process.

2. Restart and in BIOS Settings disable UEFI and set boot mode to Legacy which forces for non EFI installation.

3. Insert Win DVD and format the right partition, not the Mac one. You will see 4 partitions, the first 2 is the mac ones.

4. Install Windows.

5. After installation complete change Bios Settings back to UEFI and boot mode to default.

6. Boot with Unibeast USB in MAC OSX installation and re-install Chimera.

7. Reboot and you will be able to dual boot. Just hit enter before time elapsed in Chimera Boot Loader to select other OS.

Summary...

I really enjoy the whole process. It was very easy, except the option VD-T=DISABLE that took some of my time before discover. If not disabled, there is no chance to boot without -x flag (Safe Mode).

But after that, the whole process went very smooth. No problem at all installing both the operating systems and run the machine for hours with no jams at all.

Very pleased and happy with this Build.

P.S. For update to 10.9 just follow the Tonys Guide and reinstall Lan, Wi-fI and Sound Kexts.

Thanks again the whole Forum for perfect installations tips.:)

Hi

I was reading your interesting post because i have almoust the same board the GA H87M-D3H.
I think it has the same audio and ethernet driver. If i am right than it should work fine with unibeast and multibeast. No special tasks needed.
Therefor i am happy about your success and hope that everything works smooth during my installation.

Hopefully i will receive the hardware for my first hackintosh today.

Regards,
Jo

Yes it's the same mother board with only different focus on the number of outputs and expansions.

I wish you everything goes well. Don't forget to disable VD-T before start the installer. It was the only thing that made me search around for troubleshooting.

Good luck !

Ok, this is what I got, following your successfull build:

Kingston DDR3 8192MB (2 x 4096) 1600MHz CL9 HyperX Red XMP
Intel Core i5-4570, LGA1150 3.2 GHz
Gigabyte GA-H87M-HD3
SAMSUNG 840 EVO 2.5 SATA3 120GB [Basic]
Case + 550W source

Did everything exctly as you said and of course, is working great.
So there it is:
Thank You!
And of course, a big THANK YOU to the creators of UniBeast and MultiBeast.

Besides the options in MultiBeast, I also checked "SMC Plugins", so I get the sensor info (I like to know the temperatures and fan speeds).

The system seems very stable and is amazingly fast compared to my previous macbook late 2007 (4GBmemory, SSD, core2duo@2GHz)

I can confirm that there's no way you can use the VGA port in Mavericks (at least on this mainboard). Tried it even as a second display and... no chance. With only VGA port connected, the system won't even start, and as a second display you can only see some gray broken image.

Hi, I am going to buy a Desktop with below specification. Will this guide will run OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

my system will be:

Gigabyte GA H87-HD3 or Asus H87M-E
750 GB hard
i7 4770 processors Haswell
4Gb Corsair Value Ram

Please Please Please Help me if you got success.

I just upgrade the OS to OSX 10.9.1 with success.

I Also Add Vga Card, Nvidia Gigabyte GTX 650 OC Edition 1Gb GDDR5, and disable 4600 Internal GPU.

It was just a streamline procedure with no odd things. :)

I Wish Everyone a Nice 2014 with Love, Full Of Health and... full of Mac...:D

Go For it... No problem at all...

I Personally prefer Gigabyte for Hackintosh projects.

Thanks a lot for your post.

Just one question, if you were building it today, wouldn't you have chosen the
i3-4330 instead if the i5-4570
2 cores only, but...
3500, instead of 3200 speed
Does Hyper-Threading,
Same HD 4600 at 1150
Support for DDR3-1600 only (not lower as the i5)

And it is ~$100, instead of ~$200

What do you say? Thanks!

I always prefer lower spec CPU if i don't really need the performance gap that next step offers. BUT... i think it's just my objective opinion.

As for example, when i build, for my 9 years old son, a Dual Boot Hackintosh, this Christmas, i preferred i3 CPU with high Speed Clock and a very good Gaming GPU. My decision where based on Gaming needs on Win 8.1 OS. Of course, all it has to do primally with cost. So it's up to you and your wallet first... :)

Finally i think whatever you choose it will be a nice Hackintosh !!!
