About This Build:
I built this Hackintosh from my main desktop. Hackintosh uncompatible mobo was on its way out so I did some research and found that another user confirmed the P5Q SE PLUS to be working and took a bet and won! After an initial test install, I bought the HD5850 and am currently running dual boot OSX 10.6.6 and Windows 7 off a SSD.

Steps:
1. iBoot, install Snow Leopard Retail
2. Boot into with iBoot (to dual boot, skip to step x)

(Dual Boot)
2.1. Format HDD with 2 partitions and GUID table
2.2. Format partition 1 with Mac Journaled, partition 2 as FAT32
2.3. Install Windows on partition 2
2.4. Install SL Retail on partition 1

3. Update to 10.6.5, Multibeast

Multibeast Settings:
[X] EasyBeast Install
[X] System Utilities
[ ] Drivers&Bootloaders
>[ ] Kexts & Enablers
>>[ ] Audio
>>>[X] Universal
>[ ] Bootloaders
>>[X] Chameleon 2.0 RC5 - ATI Experimental

4. Restart w/o iBoot
5. Install complete 8gb RAM
6. Update to 10.6.6
7. Install VoodooHDA.kext 0.2.43 for volume controls from: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... 3321&st=20

Comments:
Working 99% in 64 bit mode. The only problems I've encountered is the graphics glitch out sometimes and requires me to unplug and replug in my DVI connector and sleep (AFAIK) doesn't work.

If anyone could help me getting sleep working, that would be great!

For the record, I tried running with a X1900XTX and SL DVD froze at ethernet drivers

Hey there. Can you pls gief some advice how did you get the installation done, cause im stuck at the booting screen. Did you use a custom bios file and if yes which one? Thx in advance!

Gracias.

Hi there,

I got the same mobo as you and the initial install of Snow Leopard worked like a dream, it's after the Update package that things go awry, 'out of the box' everything on the P5Q SE PLUS works: network, sound. On top of that, my Geforce 9800GT displayed the whole thing in a nice 1920x1080, what do you know. My brother said he'd tried his hand at OSX on a PC, but he got stuck, so after some digging on the internet about compatible hardware I decided to give a try as well. Not bad at all, I just gotta change cpu cooling to a model that will accomodate me to use all the memory slots available so I can go to a whopping 8Gb of Corsair Dominator DDR2 at 1066. I have evaded the sleep mode flaw for the moment by putting the setting to never, but I'll have to take a look at it sooner or later.

Cheers!
