Comments

This computer runs near-silently even under load. The CPU has happily overclocked to 4.4GHz.

I want to upgrade to a 27" monitor soon.

Installation was done with a spare USB keyboard and mouse as the installer does not seem to detect the Bluetooth adapter.

I haven't updated to the latest BIOS (F12). I'm still running the one the board shipped with (F3).

I didn't load optimized defaults before installing, OS X installed fine with my overclock enabled.

Intel graphics are disabled.

Working
Graphics
Audio
Network
Sleep
Wake from Bluetooth mouse/keyboard
Intel SpeedStep
TRIM

Not Working
HDMI Audio

Installation
Graphics, network, audio, sleep, and Bluetooth worked 'out-of-the-box'.

1 Download 10.8.5 from Mac App store
2. Prep USB disk using UniBeast 2.1.0
3. Disable XCHI in the BIOS - Installer will not work with it enabled
3. Boot from USB and install OS X
4. Get audio drivers working as per this thread:
a. Remove /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext, HDAEnabler1.kext
b. Download the Interim Kext
c. Download MultiBeast 4.6.1 (Lion)
d. Download KextBeast
e. Run MultiBeast 4.6.1 and install the non-DSDT ALC898 driver. DO NOT REBOOT YET.

f. Copy the interim kext to your desktop.
g. Run KextBeast
h. Reboot. Audio should now work.
5. To enable SpeedStep and TRIM run Multibeast 5.4.3:

[Success] BacMook's Build - i7 4770k - GA-X87X-UD4H - 32GB RAM - GTX 760 [Working Audio!] 2GB

Questions
1. The CPU is clocked at 4.4GHz as reported by the BIOS and Windows 7. OS X only reports 4.3GHz - any idea why?
2. My GeekBench score seems lower than others with the same CPU. What can I do to improve it?
3. The NVIDIA GPU identifies as a GK104. Any way to get it to identify properly?
4. How can I get SpeedStep working?

You might want to have a look at my build. I explained there in Detail how to get your internal graphics working. I have the i7-4770k to and my internal graphics are correctly recognized as a hd4600.

My last post was of course a response to question three.
Concerning question four: Speed step is successfully working in my build. You can control this by using the HWMonitor utility and fakeSMC. There is a screenshot of my CPU working at 792 MHz in my build description.

Perfect! But as you are writing "now": Did you have to change something to get it working? For me it has been working out of the box...

No, I just installed FakeSMC as you suggested.

Its really nice to hear that there are UD4H Builds that are up and running.
I also have a GA UD4H but a 4670k and a MSI GTX 770 Twin Frozr.

My question to you: Did u remove ur GTX during installation?
Ive read multiple times, that for installation the dedicated GPU has to be removed. Is that correct?

Regards Angosa

Hi Angosa,

I installed with my GTX (via DVI). The onboard graphics were disabled the whole time.

Thanks for the answer. Ill give it a try and report.

EDIT: So i can tell u that it seems to work. :)
Installation got fine. First boot after installation also went fine. Now, ill have to install multibeast and test if everything is working correct.

Ill give u an update later.

EDIT 2:
Sorry for torturing your thread, but i thought it could maybe help some other users here if i post with my more or less similar system here:
I followed your "tutorial" and most of all worked fine. Also sound is working after i got the system to sleep (Have to check that).

The only thing i dont understand at the moment is this message on boot:
IMG_20130919_205448.jpg

The third and fourth line came up the first time i booted from the Unibeast Stick. After the install i copied Multibeast to the Stick. After that i got additionally the first tho lines with... header read size 200.... Incorrect image signature.

Can anyone explain me this messages?

Thank you.
Regards Angosa

EDIT 3:
Ok, after installing Chimera 2.2 the "header read size 200.... incorrect image signature" has gone.
Nevertheless the error message still appears.... anyway the system seems to work fine.... as far as i can estimate this as a total Hackintosh-noob

Maybe someone has an idea how to fix this.
