well,

I installed everything, removed the mach_kernel lines.. used unibeast 5.0.1...
Booting again from my usb thumbdrive after complete install. Aaaaand
Boom!

"Can't find /System/Library/kernels/kernel"

so, instead of the classic can't find mach_kernel it can't find the new one...
I checked the drive.. it is there.. so what now ?

any help greatly appreciated !

Remove the the following from the /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist on your hard drive:

<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>

Oh damn i forgot to mention this but I already did that. That is why it is looking for /System/Library/kernels/kernel.. otherwise it would be looking for mach_kernel right ?

or am I missing something ? (i followed the update from mavericks guide posted here somewhere... )

BTW: i have no idea why the image is upsidedown! :lolno:

Sorry I'm so used to the missing mach_kernel I missed your message.

The only way you could get that error is if the installation process failed.

I have the same issue on a clean install using Unibeast 5.0.1. Tried everything and keep getting the "Can't find /System/Library/kernels/kernel" error

So even if I check the drive and the kernel file is there ? (even the filesize is 10,6 MB...)
I'd better install again then... ? maybe clean install instead of trying to fix this issue... :(

Search for org.chameleon.Boot.plist on all your disks and make sure you only have 1 copy and it doesn't have the Kernel key.

well i have a raid setup on two SSD's and in those boot partitions i don't have the kernel key. in my backup mavericks disk i have this but I am not booting from that. Also it says it is specifically looking for /System/Library/kernels/kernel so I doubt it..

This update to Yosemite sucks :( it is simply too much hassle .. should have sticked with mavericks...

I so understand you. I run exactly to the same issue. I tried many things but none worked out. ¿Did you eventually figure out a solution?

I'm able to install Yosemite. Once it is installed and select to boot up from the disk under the Chameleon USB bootloader, and it throws the messague "can't find /System/Library/Kernels/kernel/", then I select boot from the USB and it boots up Yosemite. Even weirder, the next time (after the installation) I turn on my computer if I select directly to boot from the USB, the installer starts. I go back, select to boot from the the disk installation, shows the message "can't find..." and the select again to boot from Usb and Yosemite boots up.

Any suggestion... :banghead:
