You might use google to find solutions/files for your specific board.

I've looked on the MSI Website it defiantly uses ALC889 codec. May I ask you something. In Linux which audio driver do you use alsa or pulse audio? Now here is something that is strange. I switched from pulse audio to alsa audio when using alsa I have audio outputs but no audio when using pulse audio I have audio don't you think that is strange? Could there be something different what MSI has done with this board? Maybe it could be a bios related issue? What do you think?

I don't really "use" Linux. I just run Ubuntu from USB for various things (gathering audio codec dump). I'm pretty sure Ubuntu uses ALSA.

When running Ubuntu from USB. Pulse Audio is defaulted. I'm not sure. Guess it's not going work might have move to a USB sound card.

Hi RehabMan. Quick question. I've done some research on my MSI-G41M-P25 some websites say this. ALC888S VC2/ALC889 Now what does S and VC2 mean? Any ideas?

Made up names for vendor specific variants of ALC889.

Have you tried: https://github.com/vit9696/AppleALC

Then just drop this in /L/E or inject it with clover. What it does it that it patches your AppleHDA on-the-fly in memory. So you can keep your vanilla AppleHDA.

You still need to set your layout-id in your DSDT either with clover or by manually editing it. And your Audio Device needs to be named "HDEF" in DSDT. More infos:

Didn't bother in the end the ALC 889 on the MSI-G41M-P25 had problems.
