SSDT & Clover EFI Partition problems

Hi people,

been running Mavericks using Clover for a few weeks now (props due to Tonymac Clover guide) and i have a fully working system. I am now trying to resolves some issues that i cannot figure out and would like your help;

EFI: my Clover EFI partition alway mounts and displays on the Desktop in OS X, it does not stay hidden like EFI does in Chimera/Chameleon. How do i stop EFI mount at boot time ?
SOLVED = config.plist/RTVariables/MountEFI/No
(terminal bash: diskutil unmount /dev/disk0s1 is no good)

System BackUp: when performing a BackUp i.e, in Carbon Copy Cloner, do i have to back up the EFI partition too? I ask because i have an identical copy of the EFI partition contents in my Mavericks boot drive however that will be formatted in hfs whereas the EFI partition is formatted in Fat32) so i am unsure?

Custom SSDT:
I used Clover Configurator to set my SMBIOS to MacMini6,2 which generated all the required values and serial for my config.plist

In the SSDT section of Clover Configurator, i only checked the box called Drop OEM and i left all the other values unchecked. I have also set the Drop Tables to;


SSDT > TabledId > CpuPm
SSDT > TabledId > Cpu0Ist


I created my SSDT.aml from Piker-Alpha’s ssdtPRGen.sh command shell utility https://github.com/Piker-Alpha/ssdtPRGen.sh and I placed my SSDT.aml file in the EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched folder

After running MSR Dumper for 15minutes, i am only getting two P states ; 16 and 34

I don’t know where i am going wrong ?

i decided to give Mavericks native power management another shot so followed your guide and created a custom SSDT.aml

To Recap - I am using Clover so have the SSDT in my EFI/Clover/ACPI/Patched and i'm using MacMini6,2 SMBIOS

i installed AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementInfo.kext in S/L/E and the results i got were as follows;

I have noticed that i now have a new option in my Energy Saver preferences called 'Enable Power Nap' and that was not there before i created my custom SSDT so i'm half way there but i'm still having power management issues;

My HWMonitor frequency stays at x8 (800+MHz) and infrequently jumps to x16 (but only very briefly)

My Console is flooded with rows of kernel[0]: pState error: 7!

Also entering XCPM in the search bar of the Console just give me no results (a blank console) :think:

i've been reading through your thread and the responses from all the other posters there (and maan, there's a lot of them !)

a big thank you to mbrettweigel from post #178 who mentioned the Clover boot flag -xcpm which i did not know about so i enabled that -xcpm flag in Clover Configurator Boot section, saved and then rebooted.

My screen started flashing back between a snowy blueish colour and a blueish desktop so a couple reboots later and my screen was back to normal.

typing XCPM in the Console search bar now gives me;

kernel[0]: XCPM: registered
kernel[0]: IOPPF: XCPM mode

Good News.. kernel[0]: pState error: 7! has now been eliminated and my SSDT finally works..

i get every P-state from 16 right through to 38 which is brilliant :thumbup:

I will play around with native power management some other time and see how i can get more P-states, ideally 8 through to 38

If i could suggest that you mention the -xcpm boot flag in the Clover sections of your Post #1 guide as this will make it easier for others ;)

Your processor is not capable of clocking lower than 16; Ivy Bridge mobile and Haswell can clock to 8.

Native CPU PM works without it; do not know what circumstances require it.

Thanks for the clarification hence - AICPUPMI: CPU Low Frequency Mode.............: 1600 MHz i guess.

Think i got confused about P-states when i was using Clover to patch P & C states for me without a custom SSDT as HWMonitor's CPU Core frequencies would give me readings between x8 and x16. I know better now :)

Other Posters like me noted that entering XCPM in the Search bar of the Console displayed nothing so trying the -xcpm boot flag in Clover may work for others like it did for me.


Update: 19/06/2015 - because i downloaded AICPUPMI ver.4 kext directly from PikerRAlpha's site, it did not have iGPU flag enabled by default so i edited the Plist of said kext, repaired permissions and rebooted.

I ran the AICPUPMI terminal command again but i was only getting 3 iGPU states which was bad so i re-read Toleda's instructions and spotted my mistake indicated from my quote below;

In the SSDT section of Clover Configurator, i only checked the box called Drop OEM and i left all the other values unchecked. I have also set the Drop Tables to;
SSDT > TabledId > CpuPm
SSDT > TabledId > Cpu0Ist
For Clover Configurator, Toleda advised to set ACPI/Drop OEM or ACPI/Drop Tables but not both so i unchecked Drop OEM in Clover config.plist and kept my SSDT drop tables then saved and rebooted..

Now i am getting 13 iGPU P-States from my i5 3570k

Update: 28/06/2015 - Overclocked my Z77-DS3H from 3.4Ghz to 4.4Ghz and created another SSDT using the flag;

./ssdtPRGen.sh -f 4400

The Overclock now gives me 29 CPU P-States and 8 iGPU P-States from my i5 3570k (you get more iGPU P-States the longer your system is running)

Geekbench Score at stock CPU and no SSDT = 10586

BTW - The Z77-DS3H has no V-Core adjustment parameters so is a crap motherboard for overclocking as you cannot alter the CPU Core voltage manually :(
