I installed the retail version of Snow Leopard on the drive of my inspiron n7110 and then boot the drive using iboot. When I try to install the update like the guide says an error occurs and says I then have to restart. When I restart I can not get the drive to boot past the gray apple screen without turning off and restarting any help?

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx). For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

I think I have entered all the information that you asked for is there anything else you need me to enter?

What do you mean by "install the update"? Did you use UpdateHelper and reboot prior to applying the 10.6.8 update? Did you inject AAPL,os-info in someway (DSDT, device-properties, etc.)?

See here for more info on os-info: http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-proboo...lling-snow-leopard-hp-probook.html#post577828

You may also need to remove the nvidia kexts (NVDA*, Geforce*).

How do I remove kexts?

"

  1. Open Finder and navigate to your Snow Leopard drive.
  2. Download the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Combo Update
  3. Download MultiBeast
  4. Open MultiBeast- don't run it yet, just leave it open. Set up windows as shown.
  5. Mount MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8.dmg
  6. Install MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8.pkg" < during this step in the process my computer comes up with an error and says I need to restart it then after restarting it it will not go past the gray apple screen

You need to run UpdateHelper and reboot prior to installing the 10.6.8 combo update.

Kexts are in /System/Library/Extensions.

Alright thank you I will do that thanks so much for the help

I finished the installation of multibeast and the update but when I try to boot from my hard drive it says operations system not found.
