Hey all,

I've recently bought a Rosewill RCR-AK-IM5002 Internal Card Reader (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820223113) from Newegg and I was how wondering whether there's any special instructions I need to be aware of when installing it especially with the new big Mac Software update 10.6.5.

Would I just need to install the Voodoo card reader kext?

Let me know. Thanks guys for your help! :)

So, I've installed the device successfully and it works fine.

But whenever I put my machine to sleep, it instantly wakes up. I'm guessing it's the card reader that's causing this to happen since it's hooked using USB/SATA ports from my motherboard. Because I'm thinking that the device doesn't turn off at sleep, it will wakes up the system.

Any idea how to fix this? I haven't install any kexts for it yet. Will I still need to install the Voodoo kext that MacMan suggested me to use?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I couldn't find the Voodoo Card Reader Kext from MultiBeast. Where will I be able to find? Instead, I found "Voodoo PS/2 Controller with Trackpad Support." I don't think that's the right one though. Any idea?

That kext is not currently in MultiBeast.

Thanks for the info, I've checked out their website and I'll still cannot seem to find it:

Their website seems forum-based and I tried searching through their forum and no luck.

Also, I've noticed when viewing my Serial-ATA from my System Profiler. It notes that their are x8 "Unknown AHCI Standard Controller." Is that a possible cause of this sleep issue besides my assumption being the USB from my Internal Card Reader? The card reader is connected via SATA as well, but I'll already installed both eSATA and SATA jMicron controllers already.

Here is a screenshot of my System Profiler:

I could't find it either. I downloaded the source and found that it only supports a Ricoh reader. Does the Rosewill use a JMicron chip? If so there is a patcher to add support on the JMicron site.

Those Unknown AHCI Controllers is the SATA 3 controller. Currently there is no support for making it known. Unless you are planning to run them in SATA II mode I would disable them in the BIOS.

I'm not 100% precent sure whether it's using a JMicron chip or not. But according to this fellow's review on a different particular product, Rosewill RX81US-HT-35A-BLK 3.5†SATA to eSATA + USB & Aluminum w/ High Quality Texture surface Ext. Enclosure, he mention it uses a JMicron chip.

So, I'm assuming this product may be using one as well.

I'm checking out the JMicron site right now to find the patcher.

I found this: JMicronATA_1.1.4.dmg (from /CardReader/MAC_OS_X/CF/).

Is this the patcher you're talking about?

No worries, thanks for the link! I'll go ahead and try the Realtek patcher for Mac OS.

I'll let you know how it goes.
