Hello,

I am Marco from Germany. First thanks for all the information here.
I tried to install SL on my PC with following components:

Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 (Bios version F12)
i5- 2500K
Sapphire HD 6870 1GB
4 GB Corsair Vengeance Ram (after installation 12GB will be completed)
Crucial M4 SSD 128GB

I tried to use Chameleon which didn't work. So I tried this method.
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.de/2010/04/iboot-multibeast-install-mac-os-x-on.html
Sometimes I see the Apple logo in the center of the screen. After the logo disappears, I see the screen in the attached picture screen with the :beachball: in the upper left corner. Then the PC turns off.

What could be the mistake/error?

Thank you
Marco

Gutten Tag : Marco2228 - Alles Gute..

My german is as as bad as my english ...

I may suggest that your see if you can get it to boot up w iBoot 3.10.1 - w/o using the 6870 GFX card - as your CPu has HD3000 GFx on board.

You may have to use the 1032x768x32 graphis setting in the command line initially as Apple didnt have support for HD3000 untill the Mac Mini and the MBP when Apple released a special upgrade for MBP 10.6.7 or in the combo update for 10.6.7 ( which in theory is rolled over to 10.6.8)

THis means you need to select the MacMini option in the SMBios setting during MultiBeast not the default Mac3.1.

Of course you are using a DSDT file and the onboard BIOS version matchs the DSDT file version - see our DSDT section.

As you have a Sandy Bridge CPU - you will need to modify the installer procedure and include a added program called UPDATE Helper.

THis is a short modified version fomr Jester 969 -
How to do a sandybridge cpu w compatable hardware OSX hack 10.6.8 build. jester969

Typical installation steps are:
1) iBoot + Disk Utility + install Snow Leopard DVD (perform install via DVD) reboot
2) iBoot + Installed OSX HDD (boot with iBoot and loading OS via newly installed HDD) - get welcome screen
3) Run Update Helper and Reboot?
4) iBoot + Installed OSX HDD, run combo update 10.6.8 , DO NOT reboot
5) Run Multibeast and select option which are required to your board.
6) Reboot w/out iBoot

Audio/Ethernet/DSDT

DSDT and BIOS firmware must match to the corresponding number.

Best Startup Switch for inital install from iBoot w Apple DVD
-x -v -f acpi=off PCIRootUID=0 GraphicsEnabler=No npci=0x2000

If you need to know about the command line switches - see these links.
Something usefull about command line switchs one needs to know !
http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/05/bootloader-acpi-flags-while-darwin-bootloader/

This is from 2008 some of these have changed but it still a good read,

After some other tries, I installed Mountain Lion with using UniBeast.
Installation was successful, but now I want to start ML, the PC doesn't continue at the following lines:

Did you ever get the SL installed -

Forgot to mention that you may have wanted to make several Mac partitions so you could back up the volume to another Partition using a program like Super Dupper or Carbon Copy CLonner - for mac.

Ok lets see if this command works -
-x -v -f acpi=off PCIRootUID=0 GraphicsEnabler=No

this should allow you to get to the desktop in safe mode - you may want to run MultiBeast with your selected options and also System Utilities in the MB for ML that you have - Also you can run Multibeast several times selcting only such items as network / sound / additional options.
Do use system Utilties each time.

For more information on Multibease see www.multibeast.com

Once you reboot us the -v -f switchs once more - should get you to a normal desktop.

I just had to put GraphicsEnabler=No in the command line and got to the desktop :) thanks

But then I messed something up with using the Multibeast for my HD6870
Just installed ML again and now carefully setting up DSDT and Multibeast.

Any suggestions for that?

Ok so you did get SL installed and you said that you only had to use GraphcisEnabler =no -

whats sometime really helpfull is to have several partitions setup all mac enabled that way you can clone you boot volume and re-boot from them if need for resurection. I have one Mac vol for boot I have two other vols - Thing1 and Thng2 that are used to backup volume Mac.
Using Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Dupper for this purpose. I can even boot from these as they show up in Iboot. or the Chimera Boot loader. And then restore them.

this is very helpful for doing upgrades like a SL to LION or ML - I generate the Uintbeast Thumb drive w SL and then boot and install the unibeast drive to one of the spare vols - say Thing2 - do all testing etc and if needed backup either to Thing 1 in the event that I need to restore.

I have a second drive to backup the backups - old one's are great for this
I am not sure about your doing a DSDT file as we have one already in the DSDt section of this site. Suggest you use that one no need to remake the wheel.

THe GFX card my only need that same command GE=Off on the install and maybe ok after that - as it supported in ML.

Do use the latest Chimera which is part of the MultiBeast installer.

I suggest that you open a new Thread instead of posting your problem to an old Thread - also you issues don't match what marco2228 is having.

I also suggest that you fill in you User ID Signature Block w the data about your hardware - its helpful to us - you do get better answers.
So we would need to know the Processor - Ram - Video Card properties on-board and discrete - Motherboard - and the System Model number in your case as its a commercial System.
