Hello, my first post here. Been reading for a while to try and gen up on things as much as I can but obviously not well enough.
Hoping someone can advise on my systems comparability most details below (CPU-Z images) after a few failed installs of Snow Leopard 10.6.6 on my Dell Vostro 400 (60Gb SATA II Drive) Not sure if its worth continuing after getting Kernel panics very soon after re-boot to complete install.

Will photo screen of kernel info asap. Any comments on general system comparability very welcome.

You should be able to install on that Dell. Carefully review the BIOS settings required in the guide - http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/iboot-multibeast-install-mac-os-x-on.html

Follow the guide to install. I do not know if your GPU will need GraphicsEnabler=Yes or No boot-arg.
With any nVidia GPU you may need PCIRootUID=0 boot-arg

Finally got back to this Cleaned off the hard disk 64 gig by writing zeros and started over using iboot and official snow leopard disk which took an age to arrive.
Now in verbose mode I get

"still waiting for root device"

Tried disk=0 disk=1 disk=2

Anyone?

Try different USB ports - this sometimes clears this problem.

Hi GB... have read that but using a DVD/CD drive to boot iBoot. Ill try iBoot on a USB drive and report back with results.

Ok problem appears to be no AHCI mode in SATA bios config even after updating to latest version available 1.015
So that's it then for this system I guess. I will look for a solution but not hopeful.

Update... Apparently changing to raid in some dell bios will set SATA ahci to on.

Original problem persists. Still waiting for root device..

Try boot with -v -f -x
