USB mouse and keyboard aren't working during the Snow Leopard installation.

Hello.

I'm tryng to install Mac OS x Snow Leopard on my computer. These are the main specs of it :

CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 core
Motherboard : Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd, MODEL : Z87-HD3

I've been able to get the installation screen, but then I'm stuck because my keyboard and mouse (they are both USB) aren't working. Since my motherboard is Haswell,I'm using Iboot-Haswell. Before to turn on the computer I've removed :

1) any hard drives
2) any USB peripherals but not the keyboard and mouse
3) any PCI cards but not the graphic card

What can I do now ? thanks.

Where are your keyboard and mouse connected? For best results connect to the USB2.0 ports next to the PS/2 port, mouse closest to the PS/2 port, then keyboard.

Hello.

I've connected the mouse and the keyboard on the usb 2.0 ports. Maybe the mouse and keyboard that I'm using aren't compatible with the mac os x ? Should I buy a compatible mac os x mouse and keyboard ?

Any generic usb keyboard and mouse should work. If the back USB ports do not work try the front ones.

Hello. I tried carefully on every port. It did not work. I have two mouses. The first is logitech and second is kraun. The first is turned off as soon as mac os x snow leopard starts loading, the second one is not turned off,but when I move it the cursor on the installation screen is stuck. The keyboard is turned off as soon as snow leopard starts loading. I see the lights goes away. But when I attach the other devices on the same usb ports,I see the lights turned on. Is there a fix for this situation ? Maybe something that I can write when the Snow Leopard DVD icon appears on the screen ? Thanks.

During the boot process the mouse is not used - only the KB needs to work. Use the arrow keys on the KB to select your icon to boot from.
Once in the OS X install screen you will need the mouse to select utilities->disk utility to format the drive and select the install button. Is this where your mouse is hanging?

Mouse and keyboard don't work when I'm on the installation screen. I can't go on.

Are you using iBoot Haswell to boot with or the old iBoot? You need the Haswell version for your hardware.

BTW - please put your hardware in your profile per the forum rules.

ok.

1) I'm using Iboot-Haswell
2) I've updated my profile with my computer hardware specs.

For some reason, the method that I have used here does not work. But I have changed method. I've created the USB boot installation disk with unibeast and I've been able to install mac os x El Capitan natively on my computer and this time keyboard and mouse work great. So this thread is closed.
