A major wipeout happened and my backup made with CCC no longer will boot even using iboot[Haswell version] Computer is Haswell GA-Z-87x-UD5H with 16GB Ram. Video is MSI r 7570.
It seems I must be at 10.6.8 for anything such as UNIBEAST to work even though I found the various install software [such as Mavericks, El Capitan, Yosemite]on various data drives.
Using iboot for Haswell and the Snow Leopard install disk, I have no trouble building 10.6.3. [I've don't it several times<grin>]
When I upgrade using 10.6.8 combo- The upgrade seems to go correctly-says it finishes OK. Then I restart planning to use iboot to boot into 10.6.8. Since there is no Multibeast for Haswell, I must boot using iboot. The grey apple screen that I expected appears for a second, then goes to blank. Stays blank for a minute or so and then computer reboots into iboot.
My suspicion is the video card is the problem.
I don't think the internal video on the motherboard is supported with any version of Snow Leopard. I am working with SSDs not HDDs, but don't think that is a problem. Before things went to __________, everything was running Mavericks well. I still have the backup I made with CCC. I had tested it before but it got corrupted somehow.
I have a HP 8460P Laptop[folks have run OSX on it successfully] that I could possibly use as part of fixing things but I cannot think how I could use this laptop as part of the fix.
If buying an older video card is part of the fix, I am willing to try that. I have various other pieces of hardware such as USB to SATA connectors. Don't see a use for that now though.
I was not running any Windows of the Haswell PC but I had planned to do that sometime going forward. The 10.6.3 install is connected to the internet via Ethernet ports on a Router.
Sorry if I made some errors of fact concerning using the tonymac utilities.
