I bought the retail Snow Leopard 10.6.3 from Apple. I proceeded to follow tonymacx86's simple installation guide. I downloaded and burned the iBoot-Haswell image to a disc.

At this point I have no idea what UEFI settings to use for my mobo. :?: I do make sure HPET is enabled and the proper SATA settings are configured. Other than that I don't know what other settings to use. My UEFI version is 1.90.

iBoot-Haswell loads up fine. I swap the CD with the SL 10.6.3 DVD at the boot screen. I get into the installer and SL installs perfectly fine. I copy the Multibeast for SL and 10.6.8 to the desktop from a flash drive. I update to 10.6.8 and I run Multibeast and this is where I have problems.

I have no clue what Multibeast options to run. :?: I've tried a few different times now and I either get a kernel panic or an Apple white screen hang up. I select all the proper Audio settings, and the EasyBeast and what other options make sense. One thing I noticed thought is that my board's specific Ethernet is not listed in Multibeast, so I go with the Gigabyte one.

On my last iteration, I ran Multibeast through and rebooted, but it wouldn't restart. It hung up on the starry screen. After giving it a good 10 minutes, I just hit the reset button on my own, and that's when I got the White Apple Screen Hang Up. :beachball:I've tried going into verbose mode the last time to see what's going on, but it runs through all the text almost instantly and then goes to a black screen and I can't take a clear picture quick enough. :banghead:

I'm new to this and I've tried doing as much research as I can and to try to figure this out, but I'm kind of at a loss and I don't know exactly what to do anymore. A lot of the research and tips I've found are very technical to me and I have trouble understanding any of it. Any help would be appreciated. :banghead:

I ultimately want to get to run Yosemite, but I need 10.6.8 first.

It might be best to re-read the iBoot Haswell installation guide. According to that you don't do any post installation stuff (i.e. multibeast) until you have downloaded Mountain Lion.

Also, you most likely will want to use DSDT Free in multibeast. Not easybeast.

"Use the default iBoot + MultiBeast guide, but simply substitute iBoot Haswell for the default iBoot. With this boot CD, I was able to achieve the following without access to a computer running OS X."
http://www.tonymacx86.com/snow-leop...os-x-10-6-snow-leopard-haswell-based-pcs.html

This line is what made me think that I should run Multibeast aka Post-Installation. The iBoot + Multibeast guide says to run multibeast after updating to 10.6.8 and before restarting. Then there's this line:

"All without doing any post-installation- just booting directly from iBoot Haswell. The ultimate goal being Mountain Lion."

So, I'm a bit confused and conflicted, if someone could please clarify this, it would be of much help.

And I see that you are essentially running the same build with a different board, emjay. The chipset is the same. So I'm wondering if you might be right. I will give what you suggested a try and report back. Thanks for the reply!

The problem is that Apple quit updating SL before Haswell hardware came on the market, so there is no support for Haswell PCH or CPUs in SL.

For your hardware you need to be running 10.8.5 or later. So, your steps are:
1. boot iBoot Haswell
2. swap for SL DVD and install SL, reboot
3. swap SL DVD for iBoot Haswell during reboot because SL drive has no boot loader.
4. select SL drive icon at Chimera screen and do setup of new account.
5. Download Yosemite
6. Download UniBeast or Clover
7. Create USB installer
8. Install Yosemite
9. download Yosemite MultiBeast and install boot loader and required kexts.
10. Enjoy

How to download Yosemite if I can't connect to the internet?

You say Install SL, then reboot, with the iBoot Haswell and select the SL install at the Chimera screen, then set up the account, but after I get to the Desktop, I can't connect to the internet. My ethernet is not detected.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but 10.6.3 does not have the App Store to download Yosemite in the first place? This is why I need to update to 10.6.8, right? So, don't I need to run MultiBeast anyways to install the Ethernet KEXTs? However, the conundrum is that my Ethernet does not show up as one of the KEXTs in MultiBeast. Please correct me if I'm wrong in any of this.

Note, I have not yet tried to just update to 10.6.8 without running MultiBeast and then connecting to the Internet to get the App Store. I just know that I cannot connect with just plain old 10.6.3.

Sorry, forgot the update to 10.6.8 step, and, yes, you have to update to get the App Store icon in the dock. iBoot Haswell should already be loading the drivers for your NIC if your board NIC is supported.

Update:
I updated to 10.6.8. No luck. My board NIC is not supported...maybe. My board has this:
Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2200 Series

Apparently it's not a supported NIC, so I found a thread that I will try to use to fix my issue, but I'm a little confused on it as to what to do. The thread doesn't exactly have well defined steps to follow. So if anyone could break it down further for me, I would appreciate it.

Worse comes to worse, I'll just order a PCI NIC that is supported.

I've decided that I don't want to mess with the hassle of trying to get the board ethernet to work. I went ahead and bought the PCIe TP-Link Wifi NIC adapter. Before it ships and arrives, does anyone know if this card is compatible with SL 10.6.8?

Update:

I was able to install the PCIe wireless adapter and download Yosemite. I also successfully created a UniBeast Yosemite USB drive. Upon booting from the USB drive, I get a kernel panic exactly like this one:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/attachmen...-panic-when-booting-unibeast-usb-img_2663.jpg

I will now attempt to follow this thread to see if it will fix it and come back here for the results:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...f-kernel-panic-when-booting-unibeast-usb.html

Note: I am starting to use this as kind of a journal, admins are free to move it to where ever they want. I would like to keep this mainly in-case I build another Hackintosh and run into similar problems. Also, I hope my thread helps others who might have the same issues.

Once again, I'm stuck. I will get the white screen with the Apple logo and a progress bar, but the progress bar will get stuck at around 1/6 of the way.

I tried following the thread and following Step 4 of the Yosemite installation guide and I typed in -x GraphicsEnabler=Yes, PCIRootUID=1, maxmem=4096, maxmem=8192, npci=0x2000 and it didn't work. I then tried -x GraphicsEnabler=Yes, PCIRootUID=1, maxmem=4096, maxmem=8192, npci=0x2000, -no-zp and it didn't work. Then I tried -no-zp alone and it didn't work.

I finally ran Verbose mode, -v, and I took these photos with my camera phone. My monitor is really wide so I had to take 3 separate pictures from left to right.

Any help is appreciated as I don't understand any of this yet.
