Hello, I need help with my Snow Leopard install. This is my first Hackintosh build. My intention is to install Snow Leopard Retail DVD 10.6.3, update to 10.6.8, download Yosemite and ultimately have a dual boot Yosemite and Windows 7 machine.

My hardware:
Fresh build (no previous OS)
i5-4690K
ASRock Z97 Extreme 4
EVGA GeForce GTX 760 SC
Crucial 16 GB Memory (2 Dimms)
1TB Seagate HHD (partitioned during install 3 partitions – Snow Leopard, OS files, Win 7 Files (NFTS) (last two partitions are for future use to had my non-system files)
256GB Crucial MX100 SDD (not currently connected but intent to install Yosemite and Win 7 on this SDD)

2 Problems (may be related)
1) OS 10.6.8 will only boot with Onboard LAN (Intel 218v) disabled
2) After installing easybeast, it will still not boot from HDD. I just gives the prompt to insert boot media even though my BIOS has HDD selected. I’ve been using iBoot Haswell to boot.

Recap of where I’m at:
I downloaded and burned an iBoot Haswell disk but had problems getting the retail Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD to install. After number hours of trying different boot flags combinations (-v,-x, -f, -F, PCIrootUID=0/1, GraphicsEnabler=No, maxmem=8192, acpi=off), I disabled my Onboard LAN but it still didn’t install. I then downloaded iBoot Legacy and Snow Leopard 10.6.3 installed with no boot flags. Needing internet to get 10.6.8 combo update, I used a usb wifi dongle and found the driver on Realtek. I then installed 10.6.8 but didn’t install multibeast because of a post saying it was unnecessary to get Yosemite. 10.6.8 installed fine but I found the my iboot Legacy disk would no longer work but my now my iBoot Haswell disk did. Upon realizing I needed my Onboard LAN to use the App Store, I tried to enable it but the computer would not boot with it enabled unless I use –x safe mode. At this point I ran multibeast 3.10.1 (easybeast first) and it completed the install but would not boot machine nor take me to the bootloader at startup. Troubleshooting the Onboard LAN, I tried numerous ways to load the AppleIntelE1000e.kext using both Kext Wizard and MultiBeast. I verified this kext is in the system/library/extensions folder but the machine still will not boot unless in safe mode.

Any ideas? I attempted to boot with –v and LAN enabled and below is a screen shot.

Thanks in advance for the help. This is a wonderful site.

You will always need iboot to boot SL on your hardware, you only need it to work long enough to create your yosemite USB.

Does the Lan work if you boot with -x then, its unclear from your post, if it does then just download yosemite and create your unibeast USB, you don;t need to get it fully working in SL.

No the LAN does not work in -x. I'm still learning OS X but under Network, there is no option to use LAN even though the network lights are illuminated on the back (where plugs in). I read somewhere that -x mode disables the LAN. I really just need to figure out how to download Yosemite because right now it says "Unable to verify computer or device" when I enter my Apple ID.

Thanks

Thanks
Disconnect network cable or unplug usb.
Boot system.
Open Preferences->Network
delete everything in the left pane (click lock and verify with password to allow change)
shutdown
reconnect cable or USB
boot system, boot flag -f to force load ignoring cache.
Open System Information (option key+click on apple->select System Information) and click on Ethernet cards in the left pane
Select your NIC in the top right pane
is your network connection reported as en0 in the bottom right pane?

Ok I tried but after deleting the entries in network preferences, I couldnt reboot with the LAN enabled. Stopped at same point as before even with flags -f -x -v.

AppleIntelE1000e(info):changing MTU from 0 to 1500.

i booted with the the card disabled and as expected it didn't show up under system profiler.

Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Doing a fresh reinstall to see if I made an error along the way.

Fresh install does seem to have fixed anything. Even installing easy beast and hank's AppleIntele1000e.kext separately, the machine will not boot with onboard LAN enabled.

it hangs up just as before (see pic above). Any suggestions???

I never found the fix to this problem but I find a temporary work around with virtualbox. Now my snow leopard woes are behind me and I now have a beautiful error-free hard installation of yosemite (dual boot with Win7).:D
