Update (2/24)

Am I the last to know??!!

For anyone battling "Your device or computer could not be verified..." when signing into MAS:

After trying out many ideas from others in this forum, stumbled across an Apple page that talks about having to verify the AppleID on devices that log into Mac App Store (MAS)... something about preventing illegal use of your AppleID - see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204152

AppleID verifies your device by sending an email with a "verification" link. When you open the AppleID email on your device (Your new build, for example) and click the link your device is now verified.

After "verifying" my new rig it now signs into MAS and I can download..... Yeah!!

Previously:

Disabled mobo ethernet - Intel 1218-V chip - not supported by SL - caused boot to hang in -v mode at "AppleIntelE1000e (Info): ."

Does anyone have a fix for "Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support..." message in Mac App Store?

Many thanks to tonymacx86 for great downloads, information and forums that got me this far.

Any info regarding "Your device or computer could not..." much appreciated. :D

This is just a guess, but I would assume that you are using the default SMBios settings used with the installer. You can use Chameleon Wizard or Clover Configurator to generate a more unique serial number and a fuller smbios.plist. You may well find that you will have to go through Apple's iCloud to remove you unused/faulty devices.

You will need to apply the Apple updates to get you from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 before you can use the icloud stuff

Thanks to TpwUK - added customized SMBios.plist for MacBook Air6,2 to /Extra using Chameleon Wizard (see below)

Unfortunately Mac App Store continues responding "Your device or computer could not be verified..."

Does this SMBios.plist look OK?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/D$
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>SMbiosdate</key>
<string>24/06/13</string>
<key>SMbiosvendor</key>
<string>Apple Inc.</string>
<key>SMbiosversion</key>
<string>MBA61.88Z.0099.B00.1305241529</string>
<key>SMboardproduct</key>
<string>Mac-7DF21CB3ED6977E5</string>
<key>SMfamily</key>
<string>MacBook Air</string>
<key>SMmanufacturer</key>
<string>Apple Inc.</string>
<key>SMproductname</key>
<string>MacBookAir6,2</string>
<key>SMserial</key>
<string>C02L2674FMR7</string>
<key>SMsystemversion</key>
<string>1.0</string>
</dict>
</plist>

MacBookAir6,2 is the only product that i saw in Wizard for i5/i7 Haswell

Think my PCI ethernet card may be causing problems...next post

Read somewhere that Mac App Store requires built-in LAN connection verification. Maybe the PCI Trendnet Ethernet adapter I installed - mentioned in 2-17-2015 post - is causing problem.

Does anyone know where to download AppleIntelE1000e.kext v 3.0x driver for ASUS Z97-A onboard Intel 1218-V LAN?

Update (2/24):

Downloaded compatible AppleIntelE1000e.kext for ASUS Z97-A onboard Intel 1218-V LAN - by Zorrobyte from:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/network/154833-fix-intel-nics-failing-large-transfers.html - See ltem # 3 and follow instructions

From UEFI/Boot enabled Intel 1218-V LAN and rebooted OS X using iBoot Haswell and flag -x. LAN works OK.

MAS sign in responds: "Your device or computer could not be verified...."

Taking another look at SMBios.plist.......

2-17-2015 post:
Intel 1218-V chip mobo LAN caused boot to hang in -v mode at "AppleIntelE1000e (Info):.." ."

Disabling onboard LAN produced clean boot without -x flag -> Trendnet Ethernet connection OK for downloading 10.6.8 combo.

Thanks again to TpwUK, Zorrobyte and everyone else on this forum.

If i remember rightly the true 'Apple SMBios' settings use some formula derived from the MAC Address of the network card. Maybe generate a new SMBios with the NIC in place ?

Glad you got it all sorted though !

Don't know if this is still a problem but I ran into the same issue. Ultimately I was wanting to upgrade to Yosemite through the app store. The only way I found to resolve it was using a windows machine to install snow leopard in virtual box to get around the LAN 1218V compatibility problem (since my machine is dual boot was the same hardware). Once I did that and upgraded to 10.6.8, I had no problem downloading the yosemite upgrade and creating a Unibeast stick for a standard Yosemite install on my dual booting machine. Hope this helps.
