SL installation issues won't boot SL after installing Combo Update for SL

Hi all,

I have the following Ivy Bridge System

1) Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H Intel LGA1155
2)
Intel Core i5-3570K LGA 1155
3) Nvidia GeForce P81 GT240 1GB

I downloaded the ivy bridge iboot burn it on DVD put it on DVD drive and started the installation at boot prompt replaced the DVD with SL and followed official instructions here at Tonymacx86. I was told not to install the Multibeast as this is not needed so I downloaded the combo update for snow leopard and restarted the system but removed the ivy iboot dvd before restarting.

Well at reboot the system won't boot the SL but I get some errors as follow:

boot0: GPT
boot0: test
boot0 test
boot0 GPT
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: error

That's it nothing else happen, if i leave the iboot ivy bridge I can boot SL but there is no Ethernet driver, as when I plug the cable I get not internet or anything. I tried to install the multibeast on this ivy bridge system without success. Tried again all over same story. I am getting tired.

I upgraded the processor to Ivy Bridge as I was told on previous Forum question but I can't make this system to work.

Updates

It looks like that the Ethernet not working is a known issue with Gigabyte Z77 and that a separate NIC is needed or a wireless card adapter, anyone has got some idea to which one to buy \I need to get the internet onto the SL like this I can access app store to download mountain lion

Hi thanks for your reply,

I don't believe I am doing anything wrong, it seems that the onboard Ethernet is not supported and workaround are needed or installation of PCIe Eth Cards or Airport that are known to work with SL OS

I will ready the topics

In few work I boot the system with ivy bridge iboot at boot prompt I remove the dvd ivy bridge iboot and replace the dvd player with SL OS install and once installation completes I reboot and install the combo update, but already notice that there is no network, after upgrading with the combo update it doesn't matter if I install the multibeast or not at final reboot two issues
1) SL won't boot from HD and this seems to be normal
2) No onboard Ethernet available no drive etc with or without multibeast

Thanks

ivybridge isn't supported in Snow Leopard the kernel doesn't support it how ever you can install Snow Leopard and get your internet to work fine for you to download the Mavericks app from the app store and use Unibeast to make the Bootable Mavericks pen drive i had this issue i could only boot with the iBoot disk how ever your best bet is to install Mavericks

This is not so true because they made here at Tonymac the ivy bridge iboot, and I am able to boot with that and install SL on ivy bridge system. The Sonw Leopard is installed on my system already! The issue is different I am not getting internet because the onboard NIC for the motherboard that i am using doesn't support or recognize the SL OS

No Atheros kext for the NIC on your Ivy Bridge board in 10.6.8 and you have the Rj45 in the wrong port is probably why.

Determine which is the Intel port and install 10.6.0/10.6.3. Run MultiBeast and install only ethernet kext for AppleE1000e. Repair permissions, reboot with -f to force rebuild of caches.

Report results.

BTW - this is not an installation guide, so I am going to move it to the regular SL desktop support with your next answer - look for it there.

yes you can install snow leopard fine but CPU Powermanagement will never work in Snow Leopard neither sleep won't work because there is no support for ivy bridge the only reason why there is iBoot for ivy bridge is because its to update to Mavericks or mountain lion how ever ivy bridge will never work properly!

If the Ethernet drivers from iboot ivy doesn't work nothing will except going out and throwing down some dough on a handy USB Ethernet jack also the system will never boot from hard drive and that's why it's essential to upgrade the OS to a later version

id recommend downloading mavericks app and install mavericks with unibeast or buy a apple USB to ethernet adaptor but id recommend going with mavericks because your using a Ivybridge CPU which isn't supported
