I dont have a Mac so I bought the retail cd of snow leopard to get the first install. Then if all goes well I plan to download mavericks and install that one next. Here are my computer specs.

Motherboard: msi z87 mpower
cpu: intel core i7-4770k lga1150. Quad processor
graphics card: msi GeForce gets 660 twin frozr

So far I downloaded the iBoot on a cd. I booted from it then when it popped I ejected and put in the sl install cd. I pressed enter on that Mac install os option which brought up the apple logo and I have seen in the tutorials. But then it froze there. And there's no loading symbol at the bottom. It's been sitting for a long time just frozen.

Anyideas to fix this? I am definitely new at building computers / hackintosh so thanks for the help.

Did you use iboot haswell if not that's the problem snow leopard doesn't support the haswell processors and will never boot from hdd you will have to use iboot haswell to boot up the computer every time with a haswell processor until you've upgraded to mavericks read more here in this link in post one

The MSI Haswell motherboards have what is called a locked MSR. Have a read at this guide for a good walk through on some things that you will encounter:

I suggest that you use the onboard HD4600 graphics until you have Mavericks installed. The GT X660 has never had support in Snow Leopard.

Thank you for your quick replies. I was not using the haswell iboot and that was the problem. I made some progress but am stuck again. I installed the OS on my hardrive. Everthing seemed to work and it said to restart after the install had finished. I put the iboot cd back in but the harddrive is not showing as an option to boot from. THe only option is the iboot. Any suggestions? thanks again

Go into your UEFI/BIOS and boot directly from the DVD drive - you can probably bring up the boot options using F12 or similar from the splash screen.

Once you upgrade Snow Leopard to 10.6.8, use the software update option in OS X and update Java and Safari before you try the App store.

This video was done last year for Mountain Lion and Ivy Bridge hardware. The video shows the exact same process required on this years Haswell hardware. I think yopu are at the point approx 10/11 minutes into the video.

Thanks again for you help. I am making progress slowly but surely. I have upgraded to snow leopard 10.6.8. Problem I am having now is connecting to the internet. It seems a little different on mac than windows. But it is not even showing Ethernet as an option under interface for networks. Any suggestions?

Not a 100% sure about this but I don't think the Qualcomm atheros Killer E2205(your Ethernet chipset) is supported I recommend buying a supported wifi card or use an Ethernet dongle

Yes I have had no luck trying to get the ethernet to work with the drivers from Multibeast. I do have a wifi card but how do I know if its supported/which kext file to install for it? It is an Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230.

I got the ethernet adapter like you recommended. I was able to connect to the app store after that. My next problem is in the apple store. When I try to sign in it says "Your device or computer could not be verified". Any advice here? Thanks

I suggest trying DPCIManager to see that you ethernet is showing up as en0 or you will have problems getting the App store to work. It might be worth deleting all network preferences and removing the wifi card from the MSI board to force ethernet to be en0.

You should be able to find more on this over at Forum/Post Installation/Network
