Hi guys,

First of all, thank you tonymacx86 for creating such a detailed installation + post-installation guide and providing us with all the necessary tools needed. Using his guide, I was able to perform a successful installation on the hardware listed in my sig.

I used the recommended boot CD method with the GA-P55M-UD4 DSDT.aml from the DSDT database. The only problem I encountered during installation was that the GTX 275 was not able to get to the OSX installation screen (display switched off). I have read somewhere that this is due to using HDMI instead of DVI at the display. But I can't confirm this as I found out too late and didn't give it a try.

I have read that a few people on the forums here were having trouble with the GTX 275 too and couldn't find a way around it. The only way I managed to install was to swap out the GTX 275 for an 8800GT, which installed perfectly with QE/CI enabled. I then swapped the GTX 275 back in, and surprisingly it was detected correctly in system profiler with QE/CI enabled without any additional modifications. At this point, I updated to 10.6.2.

Using the RealtekR1000SL.kext file provided by tonymac, I managed to get the ethernet working. The only problem I had which took me a substantial amount of time to get working was sound. However, this was probably because of me assuming that the DSDT.aml file I downloaded from the database was already edited to map out the audio I/O of the board. This wasn't the case and I manually edited the DSDT as per tonymac's guide. I also used the AppleHDA.kext file from the boot CD and the LegacyHDA.kext found here. I used the '4outs2ins HDA headphone' found in the 'series of LegacyHDA 885 (ALC889a)' folder.

So I currently have OSX 10.6.2 working with sound + ethernet. My next step would be to get sleep to work. I haven't looked into this yet, but hopefully I will get a chance during the week and will post with updates.

Cheers

I was able to get sleep to work without adding any extra kexts. I just edited my DSDT file as per tonymac's guide
Just remember to check all the boxes in energy saver after editing the DSDT, as it won't work without doing this. I also included the edit to enable speedstep in my DSDT, and have my i7 running at a cool 35 degrees when doing light tasks with stock cooling :D

Okay. Congrats on your success.
I also followed Tonys guides and have a successful dual boot with parts in my sig.

Curious to know what changes you made to your DSDT and if your using APPLEHDA Vanilla kext?

I am using UD6 DSDT from Tonys Archive.
Have presumed this whole time of trying to get audio going that AZAL had been replaced with HDEF and that the I/O were correct.

Your inboard sound for UD5 was 889a?

The changes that I made to the DSDT are as follows:
- Audio configuration
- Graphics card information
- Speedstep
- Various things to get sleep working

By editing the audio section of the DSDT, I am able to run the vanilla 10.6.2 AppleHDA kext together with a LegacyHDA kext in E/E to get audio working. This works with the beta F7c bios, but haven't tried it using the F7 bios.

I think the DSDT from the database are already modified (AZAL has been replaced with HDEF), but they still need to be edited to add the audio pin configuration. If you check tony's DSDT editing guide, there is a section there that shows what the pin configuration is for each audio type. And yes my onboard sound is 889a.
