    Device not detected (ACL888)

I used MultiBeast to install... I don't think there's a DST available for this machine.

Best way for general trouble shooting

Aren't the programs for trouble shooting on OSX all the same? I'm not asking for specifics based on my hardware. I know a few places I'd look on a Linux system. I know like... 1 on OSX.

    Device not detected (ACL888)

I'm going to go ahead and bump this as I'm interested in getting onboard audio working on my machine. If anyone has any useful clues, I'm ready for some trial & error.

Best way for general trouble shooting

Hi. I've had a few threads here and gotten some help. I'm still a little unclear on where to look for a few things. Basically my system is still generally unstable. I get crashes (Screen turns dark, tells me in multiple languages to reboot). I assume these are kernel panics... unfortunately...

Confirmed Audio Interfaces (Hobbyist/Pro-sumer/Pro) & Drivers - Mac OS X

Re: Audio Interfaces......... I use an Allen & Heath Xone 4D (USB) Notes about my system: -Onboard audio does not work -I find my system crashes far less when I have the 4D powered up *before* boot and don't turn it off any type during the work cycle.

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

Hi I'm beginning to think that it is indeed related to the mixer and whether: 1: It's on 2: It's been turned off and back on during an up cycle of the machine. If I turn the mixer on before boot and leave it on, thus far, I've not had the issue. Last night, it crashed (when I was doing...

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

10.6.8 issues still (random crashes) Bleck -- it crashed. From what I can tell, the system.log, kernel.log, and error_log have nothing in them pre-crash. Only the boot process, where it tries to find the crash but I'm not seeinganything obvious. Anywhere else I should look?

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

So far so good on this... I will assume that it occurs when audio is enabled but the device is not plugged in. It's huge (professional mixer) so I don't always have it in and on. There is no other audio device in the machine (never got onboard sound to work) so maybe that's the issue.

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

And, now it bombed. I'm wondering if it's audio related. I never got the onboard audio to work, which was fine with me. I am using an external, professional mixer (Allen & Heath Xone 4D) which I need over a cheap onboard or PCI sound card. It comes with a proprietary driver, which "works"...

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

I ran Disk Utility to do some clean up. It's not crashed (while working) for a couple of days. I've also been turning it off when not using it as 1) sleep isn't working 2) it's not exactly the quietest machine in the world. It did take a dump on my once during the shut down process which...

Moderate low-profile graphics card that does 2560x1900

Low profile fit in the really narrow cases. The ones in the link above are not low-profile. But, alas, I've gone w/ a Radeon HD 5450 which apparently works. Having some issues w/ it but I've not had a chance to dig much. Cheers for all of the suggestions.

Moderate low-profile graphics card that does 2560x1900

    Hi. Yes, 2560x1600 -- (not 1900). Brain fart. However, I'm using a micro case. I need low-profile. Non-low profile simply won't fit.

I'm not seeing any that are low profile, unfortunately. :(

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

hardmantosh: Cool. I will tinker a bit more when I get home. This will mainly be a Photoshop machine, w/ a few other audio apps. Honestly, I'm cool w/ Snow Leopard. Just not the crashing.

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

Cheers for the explanation. Okay, so that definitely leaves the Lion-fresh install out. Still not quite sure where to look. Disk Utility seems to only check permissions (I found some poorly permissioned kexts but I assume this is only cosmetic). I've not checked the hard disk yet, but I...

Moderate low-profile graphics card that does 2560x1900

On the look out for one of these. I'm building a machine off on an old Linux box whose card went tits up, unfortunately. There's a lot of good advice, but most of the cards are not high-profile. I also find it weird it's rather difficult to find a cards maximum resolution these days . Should...

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

Okay. As per before, I'm a Linux guys, so I'm used to viewing logs with vim, and that's about it. I'll mess around w/ system profiler and the logs in disk utility tonight when I get home. For now, I've given it a rest. I will be building a similar system in my office here in a few days once...

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

Hi Are 32-bit apps not compatible under the 64-bit kernel? I would assume there would be some 32-bit emulation... but that's just a total guess. For this machine, right now, I have a single hard drive with a single partition. I'm storing all of my data on an NFS share so wiping it clean is...

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

Hi Well, wish I could give more information. I'm basically getting the "You need to restart" message intermittently. Doesn't seem to follow any pattern although I can say when the machine is crunching pretty hard it's more likely to occur. That's really all the info I have. Was hoping the...

Has anyone actually solved problems going from 10.6 to 107

Hi I'm having some random issues. Not sure exactly how to fix them. I'm on Snow Leopard though. Should I just assume I should bump up to Lion before even bothering? I know I have the potential to open up a can of worms, but wondering what the consensus is on the opposite happening. Cheers
