Thank You to all.
This is appreciated.
Take home seems to be:
1. Pick model in Mac at some point (5770, 6870)
2. Pick Reference Model Build
I will sell my XFX cards and grab a 5770 (partial to Batmobile if I can find one!) or more likely 6870.

This is what spooked me with the XFX 5770. My experience is that it is a not a "5770" but a specific 5770, but maybe that was one situation. They seem to behave differently (at least circa 2011-2012)...
Thank You.
You reference several older cards working. Can you name specific older models that work in yosemite either with GE=no (native preferred) or consistently with GE=yes?
Is there an older card that is "native" or close to it? I have been running two p55m-uD4/I7-860 builds for...
Hello,
I am looking for a good graphics card for optimal compatibility and as close to native support as possible.
I have looked through the guides and they seem to suggest Nvidia cards.
I have reviewed the following threads...
Thank You.
I am looking hard at CLOVER, but will start with Chimera as that is what I have used.
Have you had any luck with CLOVER or tried it? I will start with Chimera/Tonymac standard install.
Long term it seems like a good thing to learn/understand. Sounds like the config.plist is...
Hello,
I have been reading about CLOVER and it sounds like it may be emerging as the way to go, but I have no experience with it and have some basic questions.
The installation guide by Tonymac is great for the standard install...
Appreciated. Any different between the black and regular boards practically in terms of setup? Specs seem the same. Black seem to be nicer from a testing point of view.
Hello,
Can you provide a detailed summary of your Clover install on this motherboard?
You said you followed the guide to the letter, but can you give specifics of anything you did specific to the GA Z97X-UD3H?
Specifically:
1. Did you install a DSDT or SSDT?
2. Which...
Thank You for your help.
It seems like this board (or maybe Haswell in general) is quite finicky.

-Thank you
-Interesting regarding the power supplies. This is what I had in both machines...

Both have been great, but sounds like the low power thing an issue you don't want to mess with. Either disable those low power...
Hello,
I currently have two hackintosh systems, both I7 860/p55m-UD4 based with ATI 5770 graphics and 16 GB of Gskill RAM each. I am still running 10.6.8 and want to upgrade. I have not been paying as much attention to the evolving setups over the last few years as my systems have done what...
This is what I get. I have redownloaded several times.
Thank You for your help in advance.

Thank You. So sounds like in terms of kexts etc, stability with updates (not just hardware quality) the UD5H is the way to go.
Any downsides with that board?
Thank you,

Hello,
Thanks to Tonymac I have been running two i7860/p55m-uD4 systems for almost 3 years now, no problems until one machine recently and I think that is hardware. I am starting to run into the motherboard doing some funny things and think it is time for an upgrade. I was going to wait for...
@Macpharoah...
Thank You. Sorry if I missed the FLEX post, I though I had read the whole thread.
1. What is interesting is my 5770 ran three out of the box, but software disabled it in 10.6.8. Could this be a active adaptor issue, or unlikely as it worked prior?
2. I will see what I can...
Thank You. Has anyone actually tested the FLEX card with a hackintosh in Lion setup with Tony's iboot method etc? I have DP monitor, so that is not an issue...Being that is all about playing nice with the apple software...I can buy and test, but always nice to have someone tell you it will work.
A more objective way to tell if you have graphics acceleration is to type
glxgears
in X11
If you see rotating gears, you have working graphics for OpenGL at least. If you get an error then things are not right. Just so folks can check without the ripples etc...
