10 year old Hackintosh - processor upgrade

FYI I just did a similar upgrade. Went from an i5 2500k to an i7 3770 (non-k). Dropped right in and recognized immediately, didn't have to do any updating. Though I did just update to Catalina from High Sierra.

    GTX 460 troubles

Hi all, Long story short, I built this build about 7 years ago. I haven't been on the forum in forever. I settled on 10.9 for many years, but decided recently to upgrade to a larger SSD and do a fresh install of High Sierra. I got an LG Ultrawide monitor that wasn't working with the 10.9...

    [GUIDE] i7 3770K| P8Z77-V Deluxe | GTX 680 w/ HDMI audio passthrough

Just installed on this motherboard today, same processor, with a 560 Ti gpu. Surprisingly easy! FYI for anyone interested, I did not have to use GraphicsEnabler=No (or HD4000 for that matter) for my install, both before and after OSX install. Only hiccup so far: my intel ethernet port...

Mac OS X 10.7.3 Update - The Official Thread (Desktops)

Worked just fine for me! Had to re-edit my graphics kexts to get my GTX460 running again, but that was expected. Done via Software Update. FYI, Cinebench graphics score went down ~1-2 fps (to about 40 fps), but my Geekbench score went up about 600 points. Stock settings, no overclocking...

    Post your GEEKBENCH scores!

Are you overclocking? Or does the GPU make that big of a difference? I have a similar machine and I only get around 10k in geekbench 64 bit

NVidia GeForce GTX 460 v2 and Lion - If anyone could help...

I did try that but it still didn't load the kext. I think MacPro3,1 tells the system to ignore it instead of checking it each time for a compatible device and definition. I ended up doing these steps to enable a definition that would load AGPM. viewtopic.php?p=290559#p290559

Is it possible to have 2 docks with dual displays

I've always felt that Apple and Microsoft could better utilize the extra screen space with dual or more monitors. Then again, how many people in the world with a computer use more than 1 monitor? I'd be willing to bet the number is surprisingly small. There's probably some 3rd party apps out...

GTX 460 Mac Os Lion 10.7.2 work! perfectly in games.

Awesome! What have you noticed running now with the different definition? I don't think I've seen anything besides AGPM, but I'm there's other stuff...

I get ~43fps in cinebench, regardless of system profile.

GTX 460 Mac Os Lion 10.7.2 work! perfectly in games.

It's really up to you. It sounds to me like your card is working just fine. Have you benchmarked it at all? I don't game on the OSX side much. I went thru the hassle because I didn't want my GPU running at 100% the whole time my machine is on (fan, cores, etc). Just adds extra noise and I...

GTX 460 Mac Os Lion 10.7.2 work! perfectly in games.

What's your device ID? Mine is 1205, which isn't nearly as common for GTX 460 cards, I couldn't run the 4,1 or 5,1 definition until I removed those kexts I mentioned in my post from earlier and rebuilt kext cache. In fact, I don't even think I needed to remove the...

GTX 460 Mac Os Lion 10.7.2 work! perfectly in games.

Is this the info.plist in your AGPM.kext? If so, it's because there isn't one for MacPro3,1. 3,1 doesn't load AGPM.kext I'm not sure if you can edit it to run or not. I never got it working. Instead I removed a couple particular kexts and installed MacPro 5,1. You still have to edit...

Editing AGPM to prevent GTX4XX Freeze

Got AGPM working! 1. Restored the kext from my MacBook Pro 2. Edited the info.plist file under MacPro4,1 & 5,1 (used the settings from the very first post, but subbed in my Device ID) 3. Removed the AppleTyMCEDriver.kext and AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext (backed up, of course) 4. Rebuilt kext...

Where did you read that Cuda-Z is enabled on your card? I believe that if you can move a chess piece in Chess, then you should have full QE/CI. There's a number of little things like that to check for acceleration. :)

NVIDIA device ID's 2011 (Developer List)

I've got a card that isn't listed there. EVGA GeForce GTX 460 Superclocked 1 GB - 01G-P3-1363-KR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130750&Tpk=01G-P3-1363-KR 1205 = "NVIDIA GeForce 460 GTX" Edit: note this is a more uncommon device ID for a GTX 460 card. Most others...

Editing AGPM to prevent GTX4XX Freeze

Yeah, I'm gonna restore it from my MacBook Pro and edit it again. Probably delete all the unused system profiles that I don't need (xserver, macbookpro, etc). Will let you know the results!

GTX 460 Mac Os Lion 10.7.2 work! perfectly in games.

I used this guide to find it, but I didn't do all the steps. Really just made sure I had my ID in NVDAGF100Hal.kext and retrieved my GPU EFI string for my boot file. If you do inject your EFI string, make sure you remove yes/no from the string below the GraphicsEnabler key...

Editing AGPM to prevent GTX4XX Freeze

Ah, thanks. I am able to boot into MacPro4,1 or 5,1 now. However, it's still not loading AGPM. I do see this message in console though: 1/17/12 7:44:34.272 AM [0x0-0x28028].ru.cvad.KextUtility: Can't read info dictionary for AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext: IOCFUnserialize: syntax error...
