And then, lo, as if by magic, the backlight works normally. Both the keys and SysPref>Display. Even fading transitions. Thank you for your help! I seriously appreciate it!

HP Elitebook 8460p - Backlight Control Issue

Okay, well then if I understand correctly, the ACPIbacklight is finally removed. Current behavior is 100% backlight with no controls in System Preferences and no keyboard control. This seems to be the same as immediately following installation with the Probook Installer and before the install...

HP Elitebook 8460p - Backlight Control Issue

I have tried everything I know of in the realm of removing kexts. The file is not present in S/L/E, I have rebuilt the caches several times, and now booted with the "UseKernelCache=No" It no longer seems to say ACPIbacklight, but your name is still present under AppleIntelPanelA.

HP Elitebook 8460p - Backlight Control Issue

You're right, I followed an incorrect procedure for removing the Kext. I believe that I have now succeeded in removing the Kext, and behavior has reverted back to the way it was before, where no brightness slider is present, and the keys have no effect. Attached is a copy of the IOreg and...

    Lenovo ThinkPad X230 (Tablet) compatibility?

Alright, after having tracked down a real Mac to build a USB disk with, I tried setting up on the ThinkPad an ran into a wall pretty quickly. The installer seems unable to recognize the SATA controller, leaving me stuck for now. I followed the UniHelper instructions including running...

    Lenovo ThinkPad X230 (Tablet) compatibility?

I just recently purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad X230t laptop. It's a part of Lenovo's new line of Ivy Bridge systems. I was wondering whether or not Lion will run on this machine. I've hackintoshed my desktop a few times, but this is my first serious attempt hackintoshing a laptop. My machine is the...
