Okay, thank you! I'm using the MacBook Pro8,1 SMBIOS right now. Everything works fine so far, but I noticed an update in the Appstore.
I'm just wondering should I apply the update or not.
Hello, I read these lines in the guide posted by Rehabman:
Does this mean if I have a Probook 4540s with Intel i5 HD3000 on 7-series, the MacBookPro8,2 SMBIOS should be used? I used the 9,2 SMBIOS with the PBI-CE in the past.
Sorry. I apologize for that.
The problem I experienced is hard to reproduce (it's the reason I decided not to send logs) and it's seems to be common issue on genuine macs too. Safari usually crashes the whole computer in Sierra and I also experienced weird purple vertical lines on the screen...
I have the same problem on the Intel HD 3000. Sometimes my entire computer crash while using Safari. Can I apply the same patch in Clover as the users above?
I followed your guide again using the newest Clover and I have audio working without the need to rebuild caches or boot with "without caches" option. Should I leave it like that? or rebuilding cache is something that should be done regardless if audio is working or not?
I really appreciate your...
I removed the GenericUSBXHCI.kext but didn't help, however upgrading clover to the latest version did the trick and the installation started! The only problem is that the latest clover doesn't have the "boot without cache" option that is needed later for rebuilding cache for audio. I'm wondering...
I found the "3577" version to be the last one on source forge that can boot without caches. Anything newer have that option removed.
I downloaded Sierra from the App Store.
I have Yosemite installed on my SSD drive and it's the OS I'm using for almost two years now. I skipped the El Capitan...
Ok, thanks! I waited for about five minutes then finally a grey screen appeard with a beach ball spinning constantly.. Even after ten minutes the beach ball was still spinning and the installation menu refused to appear.
I just upgraded to the latest BIOS F61 and my USB doesn't boot anymore. I reset the BIOS settings and set them back again. I recreated the USB flash drive from scratch as described in the guide. The FakeSMC, Voodoo and Realtek kexts are located in the "others" folder as described in the guide. I...
Sorry I somehow misread things and thought I need to copy the files manually to the EFI partition. It works now. Thank you so much! I'll probably need to update my BIOS as well, F50 is quite outdated now on the 4540s.
Thank you for the wonderful guide RehabMan. You're time is greatly appreciated. I followed both the USB and the installation guide and everything went fine. I have a Probook 4540s 7-series with Intel HD 3000. The only problem is audio. I pressed SPACE when clover wants to boot but there is no...
Before I reinstall OS X completely, is it a good practice to format the EFI partition or just mount it and remove the files? something like this:
$ cd /volumes/EFI
$ rm -rf *
The rm command works fine for me. I'm just curious. Thank you.
If you have a Sandy Bridge CPU, the ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin_MacBookPro9_2.kext fixes the problem with speedstep on 4540s (7-series motherboad). Without it, the multiplier will be stuck at x28.

I read #1 post and followed the steps. My ethernet adapter is first en0. PBI CE generates random SerialNumber and...
BTW 10.10.1 is out.
After installing the update, at first reboot Clover showed me a "Boot device not found" error but after rebooting again OS X started loading and finish installing the update. Everything works fine.
I left my USB flash drive plugged in and I didn't notice it loaded the MacBookPro8,1 SMBIOS with GenericUSBXHCI (the one from nguyenmac's dropbox package). I worked on the computer for about twenty minutes then crashed and reboot with a kernel panic. I do not use GenericUSBXHCI these days, just...
