CONGRATULATIONS! Thank you to all affiliated with this site for showing me an affordable video editing option back in 2012. You made it possible for this tech-challenged old man to start a business in video production and editing. I'm on my fourth build and looking forward to more great things...
I did fix my problem with FCPX not exporting H264/mp4 files by following a detailed explanation found on a different site that explained it well enough for a non-IT person like me. Now that I've seen the explanation I better understand what others have been suggesting.
I got very impressive Bruce X times as well but it won't export now and I changed nothing.
Yes, I can export the BruceX test and other projects as .mov Apple Pro Res 422 files. It won't let me export H264 .mp4 files though.
Has anyone else using HackaShaq's build experienced and solved Final Cut Pro X failing to export and then locking up the system? I followed HackaShaq's instructions and have searched in general about the export/lockup problem but haven't seen what appears to be a solution to the problem...
Finished my nearly identical build today. Thank you, HackaShaq, for posting and to all who have added their experience. This was the easiest build I've done by far. The only changes I made were to increase the 500Gb M.2 to 1Tb, add a 2Tb Micron SSD as a Final Cut Pro X scratch/work disk and omit...
It works great OOB with OS 12.1 or later – FCPX is MUCH faster than with the GTX760 I was using – but you're going to have to return your Visiontex 280x if you're building a Mini-ITX. I had to remove a couple of hard drives from the two middle bays on my Antec Nine Hundred Two mid-tower case to...
I'm still running FCPX 10.2.3, too many projects in the pipe to risk upgrading. When I switch over I'll update if there are problems. So far its bulletproof on 10.2.3.
Well, it's working almost perfectly now except for signing in to the Apple App store and USB 3.0. I posted some very good benchmarks on the Radeon thread.
Well, actually it is, according to HWMonitor, but just not showing in About this Mac and System Report. USB 3.0 is only working on one of...
Well, actually it is, according to HWMonitor, but just not showing in About this Mac and System Report. USB 3.0 is only working on one of two front panel ports and not at all on any of the rear panel mobo ports, not working at all. USB 2.0 rear ports are working. I also still can't sign in to...
A hearty holiday THANK YOU to Fl0r!an and so many others for this and other posts that helped me get Final Cut Pro X editing back on track. My third build is now shredding video edits with stability and ease after I swapped an Nvidia GTX 760 for an R9 280X card. The fix also included replacing a...
Success! temporarily. My son-in-law (IT degree, smart, 1st Hackintosh experience) got a good install working with the 280X. I happily worked on the computer for several hours this evening moving files around, updating apps, etc. with no problems then it just restarted all on its own and entered...
I hate sitting around and thinking about stuff, usually gets me in trouble, so I just bought a new Visiontek Radeon R9 280X 3G gddr5 vt r9280x3gvt on ebay for $149. I don't imagine the card will give me any trouble, though I'll have to swap some parts between the PC and the Hackintosh (possibly...
I've had three Nvidia cards and all were easy to implement and bulletproof, but Final Cut Pro X, especially the latest updates, makes much better use of the Radeon/AMD cards because of its reliance on Open CL so I'm not interested in spending time or money on swapping cards to anything but a...
I'm from the shallow end of the tech gene pool and looking for advice on upgrading my second Hackintosh, a GA-Z97X-UD5H/i7-4790k/GTX-760 I've been using for FCPX video editing for two years. It's starting to glitch (occasional slowness, random freezes) and I need to upgrade from Yosemite to...
I didn't get any replies so I just set up a software raid 0 with two WD Black 1Tb internal drives through Apple Disk Utility. I'm manually backing up on a 3Tb drive via Time Machine. So far it's working well enough with 230MB/s read and 220MB/s write speeds. I've noticed a significant decrease...
I almost purchased a 28" monitor when I upgraded my build late last year but opted instead for a second 24" monitor for more total screen area, more total pixels, lower cost and the flexibility to unplug one monitor from my Hack and plug it in to my MBP when I have a helper.
Just bought another upgrade, mostly for upload speed for sending video to clients, to a promised 45 down and five up, which is almost exactly what I'm getting. The download speed is great but I still envy others' upload.
I want to set up a RAID 0 as a scratch/working disk for video editing using two WD Black 1Tb drives on the Marvell controller of my Z97X-UD5H motherboard. I'm assuming this would be better than a software raid using Apple's Disk Utility RAID setup. Instructions in Gigabyte's manual refers to a...
Post OS X Yosemite Geekbench Benchmarks
This is my second build, updated to Z97-UP5 with i7-4790K and EVGA GTX 760 from a Z77/3770k/GTX650ti, for Final Cut Pro X editing. I'm much pleased with the improvement with no overclocking. Thoughts on improving the score are appreciated.
