Core i7-3970X Monster SSD Build, Geekbench Score: 20313
Use Unigine's benchmark called "Heaven."
While running the benchmark you coul open HWmonitor which should be able to display GPU, shader and memory clocks.
Hi & congratulations on a successful build.
Is the cpus=1 kernel flag mandatory because of the motherboard you are using ? I also run an Intel x79 w/ i7-3930k and never had to specify in order to boot the installer, nor install kExts to achieve full core functionality.
Thanks.
Hi,
First of all, the boot parameters are mandatory to every single boot. This means that even if you're specifying -v, -x and/or -f, you should always specify PCIRootUID=1 npci=0x3000 GraphicsEnabler=No. Although I will recommend using -x only as a last resort, even when booting the installer...

Hmmm that's interesting, your BIOS lacks the "Real-Time CPU Ratio Control In OS" option.
I guess you wouldn't have any other option than to fix the frequency multiplier once and for all in the BIOS. Meaning your CPU will always run at x32...

It is (obviously) not normal the CPU frequency multiplier to be stuck at 12x.
Could you report your BIOS settings ?
I recently upgraded my GA-X79-UD5 from F12 to F13m using an USB thumbdrive from the BIOS itself. Gigabyte's OS-less BIOS upgrade feature is called "Q-Flash."
You can access it from boot screen (F9) or from within the BIOS itself.
Download the BIOS binary image file directly from Gigabyte's...

Best advice I could give without more information about BIOS configuration is to install HWMonitor (bundled in the latest Multibeast release) and to configure it to display the CPU frequency and base multiplier.
Check if it goes beyond...

@kaincirus : Do you mean GA-X79S-UP5 or GA-X79-UD5 ?
Because my system is built upon X79-UD5 and a Core i7 3930k and achieves 20k in Geekbench 64bits (it's o/c at 4.2GHz.)
@qwerty123
1. I'm actually using three harddrives : MacOS is installed on a 256GB Crucial M4 SSD. I have another 256GB SSD, an OCZ Vertex 4 that I bought about a month after the initial build and use for production tasks and virtual machines. Both are connected to the SATA III ports of the...
Of course. Sorry for the delay.

The H80 has since been replaced by the new generation H80i. But if your case has lot of room, especially on the top side, I would rather recommend...
