    MSI Z77MA-G45 + ML 10.8.4 + SMbios newbie question

Hi, I installed Mountain Lion 10.8.3 on my newly built hackintosh. Relevant specs: * MSI Z77MA-G45 (microATX) (patched BIOS v1.40) * Intel Core i3-3225 The software used was UniBeast (can't remember version, downloaded about a month ago), and MultiBeast v5.4.0. Combo update to 10.8.4. went...

    Building a CustoMac: Buyer's Guide July 2013

Can wait for the day when we get the '87 chipsets in the Buyer's Guide. I need a mATX board for my hack, and have my eyes on the Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H ... just waiting for compatibility confirmation from someone wiser than me ;-)

    Haswell-Compatible Power Supply Information

robertvanliere: Yes, I'm sure your PicoPSU gives enough juice to run such tests. The compatibility question is with the new sleep states of Haswell. A PSU must be able to supply and maintain --->little enough<--- power to keep the sleep state alive but not shut down. (I'm not an expert, but...

What's Your Favorite Text Editor? (Besides TextEdit)

Which text editor(s) has "column mode" selection, cut & paste ??? I don't know what the right word for that is, but imagine you have a text file with lots of similar lines (a list or database, if you will), and the fields are separated by spaces or tabs. "Column mode" or "vertical"...

    i3–3225 versus i5–3570K for non-gaming hackintosh

I don't understand why you contemplate. The i3-3225 is plenty for regular non-gaming use, go with the 3225! Also, I suggest a PicoPSU for that build. Always a good choice for systems without a dedicated GPU card. Good luck :-)

    No mATX for OC?

That's great, but what about USB support? Kduvernay, do you have the USB 3.0 ports fully working (at 3.0 speeds) with Mountain Lion on your P8Z77-M Pro? I'm getting a mATX board and am quite concerned because in his build thread mrengles says that USB 3.0 is not working... That's a real...

Does it have to be a 3570k?

One more vote for the i3-3225 --- it has HD 4000 graphics! :)

    Which MicroATX board? ML+Z77+Sleep/Wake+Audio+Ethernet+USB2+USB3

Thanks, samisnake, for the input. I found mrengles' build thread and it looks good indeed. However, I could not find anything about kduvernay's build, at least not in the Builds section. (This is perhaps because of my sad skillz using the forum search, or the fact that the global forum search...

    Which MicroATX board? ML+Z77+Sleep/Wake+Audio+Ethernet+USB2+USB3

Hello all, This is my first post but I've been lurking around for quite a while... I'm finally jumping on the Customac bandwagon mainly because Apple have decided not to support "older" MacBooks anymore (I've a Core 2 Duo with Intel X3100 graphics, working fine still --- and yes, I am aware...
