Confirmed Audio Interfaces (Hobbyist/Pro-sumer/Pro) & Drivers - Mac OS X

Confirmed Pro Audio Interfaces & Drivers - Mac OS X The StealthPedal USB interface from IK Multimedia works perfectly as an audio interface and virtual pedal controller on Mountain Lion (I'm sure it works with the other OS cats too). Also, if you need to use it as a MIDI controller, it does...

What Monitor or Display Do You Use?

I am using the 27" Achieva Shimian monitor running at 1440p, and I can vouch for its awesomeness. Now, there is a chance that it could come with one or two dead pixels, but that is one of the trade-offs for getting a 1440p monitor so cheaply ($320). Mine came in almost flawless condition...

Enable hidden retina sized wallpapers in Mountain Lion

Wow! I was looking for more stock wallpapers for my 27" 1440p Achieva Shimian monitor, and my wish has been granted! Thanks! Cosmos07.jpg looks fantastic even though the resolution of the monitor is less than the pic!

    Advice Welcomed on this Build!

Haha if something goes wrong, I'll have to send you a "I should have taken your advice" card lol. Trust me, I would. On a serious note though, I'll be documenting the whole process on YouTube (I'm a filmmaker and studying computer engineering at a university), so hopefully this will look good...

My very first CustoMac, going big, need some advice though!

Lifehacker.com suggests this one, even though it does not seem to be widely available lol. Hope this helps!

    Advice Welcomed on this Build!

I will be overclocking, and I have the cooling situation under control. Yeah, I'm just going to play it safe with the 2700k and not do any BIOS updates, just since this is my first hackintosh build. But thanks for the input KoalaMan, you've been a great help!

    Advice Welcomed on this Build!

Thanks! I should have read up on that...I thought my motherboard only included the Marvell controllers (which it seems some people have slow write and read speeds with), but if I can leave open the x16 slot for the graphics card instead of the SATA controller, I'll be an even happier camper...

    Advice Welcomed on this Build!

Very VERY good point that I should have caught! I was going to update the BIOS to run an Ivy Bridge, but you can't exactly use the BIOS without a processor in the socket. Since I don't have a spare LGA 1155 processor lying around, and the motherboard is already on its way, I'm just going to get...

Good, best of luck to you with your new build!

    i5-3570k z77-ds3h compatible???

They are both compatible, the processor you are using uses an LGA 1155 socket and the mobo you have has that socket, so there's no issue there, and yes it does take a lot of force to get that latch to go down. For the scratching noise, I think that the latch is just noisy. But you should be just...

    Advice Welcomed on this Build!

Yeah I understand your concern there, I've been reading up on everything for the ASM1061, and it looks like I'm going to put the graphics card in my x16 slot (running at x8) and my SATA controller in my other x16 slot (running at x16). The SSD write and read speeds are more of a priority to me...

    Advice Welcomed on this Build!

Hey guys, this build will be purposed as a video editing solution (mostly for FCPX and Adobe After Effects), and will also double as an audio mixing rig (the DAW used will be Logic Pro 9). Most of these parts I already have from a previous Windows build (those parts are denoted by an asterisk)...

~Beginning builder: 6GB/s SATA ports not working?

On some boards, especially ones with a Marvell SATA controller, do not perform like you think they would in SATA III conditions. Although it supports 6 Gb/s, it will not reach anywhere near that speed. But there is a solution that works like a charm, it just converts a SATA connection into a...
