After 10.8.4 update hangs at "system uptime in nanoseconds"

Okay so I have spent most of my day today "updating" my 10.7.4 drive to ML... First I had an issue with FakeSMC.kext plug ins... found a way to identify them, remove them, rebuild the cache and install everything via multi beast. Then i ran combo updater to 10.8.4, repaired permissions...

No clue how to go about this...

works great... wiped it again, did a full reinstall... updated to 10.8.4, audio works, ethernet works... turned it off and installed my 6850 and it recognized right away. So I should just clone it over to the 1tb and then "restore" from my backup? does that copy keychain and all of that...

but what happens to all of my existing files on the 1TB drive? will it only overwrite the OS?

    ML disc

1 copy of ML for 1 computer... there is a reason they don't make it readily available to you - your macbook should have a backup partition so you cant lose ML and thus no need for a disc, or backup app.

    Stork's Zorro Build: Z68X-UD3H - i7-2600K - HD3000

I have a Z68x-UD3H with i5 2500k and I have had no luck getting ANY use out of my two usb 3.0 ports... they wont even work as usb 2.0. Right now I am on 10.7.4, but I am planning on cloning and upgrading to 10.8.4 today.

Found a guide for my board... Says I should click 3rd party SATA, I did and it loaded up... I am doing a fresh install now just to make sure I have all of the steps down before I upgrade my old drive.

    [Success] Guide: Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 (EUFI)

LIFE SAVER! I have a current 10.7.4 hackintosh running on this board and I wanted to test a 10.8 install without messing up my current, working system. So I installed 10.8 on a spare SATA drive and everything SEEMED to go smoothly but it wouldn't boot after I ran multibeast - just kept...

I hear you... so I have my 10.7.4 disconnected from my hackintosh... I build a new 10.8 on an old laptop drive (120gb or something like that) and then i ran into the problem I posted right before your reply. Once I get the laptop drive up and running perfectly... what is the process to turn...

So I setup the laptop drive, installed ML and then ran Multibeast with the DSDT for my mobo, proper audio driver and ethernet driver. Removed the unibeast ML install USB and it booted, showed my new drive, started to boot and stopped at the silver apple screen with a "NO" symbol (like...

How exactly can I go about cloning the laptop drive over to the original drive? Won't it overwrite all my old data? Or are you suggesting that I overwrite all my old data, and then restore from a backup?

So in doing a little tinkering today I found a few more things that I find alarming: the audio only works when connected to the "front" audio port on my tower... If I try to put it directly into the green audio out on the back of the tower no sound... If I unplug the front audio cable from the...

While i certainly see the value in a 2nd drive... I really cant afford one right now. I have a few (older but still working) laptop SATA drives laying around but I really don't want to run my system from one of those... I suppose I could always install and setup as a test and once I know what...

So I have a hackintosh that I have been using on 10.7.4 for almost a year now, but I would like to upgrade to Mountain lion (and then mavericks later) but I haven't yet because I really need the computer working and I'd hate to mess something up. It was such a fiasco initially to just get it...
