Windows XP on current Macbook or 13" MacBook Pro?

:D yay!!! got the bits I need working under XP going now (graphics sound etc) The MBA 13" install files are sufficiently different not to want to install (PIDs will have changed) but sound and wireless were picked up and I managed to force Nvidias drivers to manually install. Only thing I'd...

Windows XP on current Macbook or 13" MacBook Pro?

Yep if it was general applications Id agree, but this particular stuff is XP only (initializing and testing high security access control servers via proprietary USB devices) :)

Windows XP on current Macbook or 13" MacBook Pro?

Aye, virtualization will run fine, I've had Virtual Box running on it without any probs. Is just we have an app or two that would work much cleaner (and a chunk faster) if the machine was booted into XP directly from a small partition of its own, rather than running in a VM.

Windows XP on current Macbook or 13" MacBook Pro?

cheers for that, looks like I just need to go hunting for someone with a 2010 Macbook or 13" MBP now to have a play with the drivers :)

Do you own a real Mac?

Aye if the stuff you're doing isn't processor intensive the SSD on it is a great leveller, though no real substitute for horses under the hood when it comes to intensive tasks. My only pet peeve is Apple dropping XP support in bootcamp for these; with the small capacity drives on these things...

Windows XP on current Macbook or 13" MacBook Pro?

The MacBookAir only ships with drivers for Win7 but as far as I know the current MacBook and 13"MacBook Pro (the C2D Nvidia 320M equipped ones) have XP support and similar hardware Having never had a chance to see the discs that are supplied with either of these wondering if someone can...

About this Mac showing "2ghz" for i7 860

you've recently flashed your BIOS and haven't reloaded optimized defaults? in which case your multiplier is down at 15 = 2.0Ghz If so reload optimized defaults then apply AHCI, HPET 64-bit and any other changes you want (floppy drive, serial port, BIOS splash screen etc)

Failed to connect - localhost/port issue?

demo mode runs OK on here (P55 chipset i7-860) I had major problems with FCP at one stage which was down to having a non existant ethernet port set for En0 (the actual port was assigned En1). In my case it was down to throwing a pre-existing OSX install onto a new board. Unlikely to be cause...

    [SOLVED] Triple-Channel RAM issue

Re: Triple-Channel RAM issue I've done several installs with 8GB of dual channel installed on P55 boards Had no need to take any RAM out as iboot already sets maxmem=4096 flag so as far as OSX installer is concerned while booting from the iboot disc there was only 4GB during install In any...

Is my hardware config compatible with iBoot?

boot up off an iboot CD when you hit the chameleon menu choose your snow leopard partition, that should let you back in if all you've been altering is the Extra folder on the HDD?

    P45 or P55 ?

aye unless you're in it for the challenge then online support is a major factor IMO - closer you match other folks specs the more likely you'll have someone else with a working config to brain pick if it doesnt go smoothly. Going down the ATi 4850 route should be OK particlarly if all your...

    P45 or P55 ?

Easier to add another 4 gig to the P55 rig later than add a new board CPU and RAM to the P45 set up assuming the graphics card thats going into either box is a well supported 9 series or 2xx series Nvidia one and the drives are SATA, then you're trading out an easier 'eyes shut, by the numbers'...

    Planning my first Hackintosh

I cant see there being any real difference between '10600' '10660' '10666' I expect its just various manufacs approximations of peak transfer rate for 667MHz RAM edit - meh beaten to it :)

i can´t get more than 4 Gb. on an i3

are you booting from hard disk or still using iboot CD to boot the machine? if you're using iboot thats one of the restrictions you'll find written into its files, its setup to be a 'get you in to run the installer and complete the post install requirements' type solution, not an optimized...

Quite a few problems after install??

the file you want to put on the stick is contained within the executable file you downloaded from the net. Don't just transfer the file you downloaded straight onto the stick. Its a self extracting archive which should be run under Windows (where oddly enough it'll urm.. self extract) or can...

    Best Windows Installation Method

two issues Issue 1 you cant boot XP if its not the first HD in the system, which is why you're currently pulling the OSX drive each time you want to boot XP (otherwise the OSX drive is getting priority, chameleon is loading and XP refuses to play ball when you try and launch it via the...
