Installing Mountain Lion without a Mac

This won't work with latest generation Intel cpu/chipsets, though. Will it?

I just disposed of my first mac

Yeah, I thought about using the case for my Hack, but it looked like a whole lot of work and I'm just not that sentimental. If it were a G5 I might have gone with it. I love the look of those cheese graters!! I just think it's something that virtually no Apple product, no matter the age, seems...

New Vizio All In One Pc's Beat iMacs in terms of Style (Seem hackintosh-able too)

Granted, HD4000 is not the bleeding edge of graphics performance, but it suits my needs at the moment (that could change) and is capable of driving these monitors, it's just an interface bottleneck unless I can use the Display Port. Technically, all the Intel core series chips with onboard...

New Vizio All In One Pc's Beat iMacs in terms of Style (Seem hackintosh-able too)

It only lacks a display port input. I believe thats the only way I could use Intel HD4000. I don't think my mobo DVI is "dual link", so it won't support the resolution. Looks like I'd need a video card.

I just disposed of my first mac

I bought a Power Mac G4 400 mhz "gigabit ethernet" in 2000 for I think around US1400. I continued to use it until around 2007. I was kind of attached to my "first mac", but it was just collecting dust and taking up space, and I'm not quite that sentimental, so I removed the hard drives and put...

What can a Hackintosh do that a real Mac can't?

I ALREADY SAID THAT!!! Sorry to be a dick, but I couldn't resist  These are all great reasons, some of which I never thought of until well into the project. I've always owned a mac, but now I know all the details of my system, made just for my needs. It's been an eye-opening and fun...

New Vizio All In One Pc's Beat iMacs in terms of Style (Seem hackintosh-able too)

I'm seriously thinking about one of these LG based Catleap monitors for my hack. It's a calculated risk, but wow! http://www.overclock.net/t/1225919/yamakasi-catleap-monitor-club#

New Vizio All In One Pc's Beat iMacs in terms of Style (Seem hackintosh-able too)

It's pretty sharp, but the display is NOWHERE NEAR the calibre of a 27" iMac.

Who has Green Jack Working on Gigabyte Z77X UD5H?

I have yet to install ML and am running Ubuntu 12.04 for the moment. The green jack doesn't work for me either, although when I plug in the earphones the speakers cut out. Also, I just saw that Gigabyte has released two new bios versions in the past two weeks, F13 and F14. I'm on F8...

Great!!! A VPN is a good thing to have!!

    Good bye Firefox!

NoScript is what keeps me with Firefox. I haven't had any stability issues in seven years on Mac and Linux. Chrome is OK, but I don't like being locked to their search engine, or the search in address bar with everything being sent to their servers. I like to keep some modicum of privacy.

To SSD or not to SSD?

I don't know about OCZ being "low end". The vertex 4 is supposed to be one of the very fastest, but I can understand that being frustrating. I've updated the firmware twice on my 128GB Plextor M3 without data loss. As far as "You can buy a 3TB traditional hard drive with a 5 year warranty for...

    (Success Build Dual Booting) GA - Z77X - UD3H + I5 2320 Thank's For Tonymacx86

Congrats!! One question: How about sound? I've heard that board would be great, except for the VIA audio codec. Voodoo HDH (supposedly sketchy) or a USB sound card are the work arounds. Edit: Oh, now I see you are using a soundcard (which one?). That mess of words toward the end of your...

Bien molesto con Apple (Well annoying with apple )

Perhaps you could get a VPN (virtual private network) account and use a US mainland based server and pay with a prepaid card. privatvpn.se is good on OSX and they will give you a free trial upon request. People all over the world can use netflix this way!!

New ML Dictation App... Sending all my text to Apple? Seriously?

I can see where you're coming from. I'll give it a shot, but I may end up seeing if I can find a way to put Snow Leopard on my Ivy Bridge. I don't even participate in data collection, err, "social networking" services.

    Making a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H

I did the SAME THING!!! I returned my UD3H for a UD5H and was allowed to apply the combo discount to the new board. The Behringer UCA202 USB card works well, but for stereo playback I prefer both the UD3H VIA and even better the UD5H Realtek, although I'm using Ubuntu Linux so far. I had my...

    Hard Drives

Iv'e only had around ten or so drives since the 20GB Maxtor that came with the Gig Ethernet G4 I bought in 2000. I've only had one drive failure, which was the next one I bought, a 80GB IBM Deskstar. This was the infamous "Deathstar" made in Hungary. Sudden death! After about six months I was...
