    2018 Video/Photo Workstation

You don't have to take my word for it, but I'll give you my take. I've built many many Hacks. I've done dual cores, quads, Z68's, Z87's, Z97's, and now I've got a Z170. I've done AMD graphics, nVidia 480, 580, 780 and now 980. I've used bad language, tore my fingers, threw things, but always...

    macOS Build 17D102

So where do I get this uodate ? I seem to be stuck at 47, and my nVidia 980 graphics seem to be a bit shaky at times/ I've been trying to find 17D102, but no luck. Thanks, Pete

    HDMI port not recognizing my monitor - i7-6700k / Gtx 980 Ti / Gigabyte z170x Gaming 7

I've had terrible issues with my B75 build. My primary system uses the DisplayPort on my monitor, and I wanted to connect the HD4000 HDMI to it via (one of) the HDMI ports on the monitor. I got terrible ghosting from boot up, and was not able to access the system. After a lot of faffing about i...

Budget LGA 1155 Mini ITX motherboard that is compatible?

The Gigabyt B75 mini itx is one of the easiest -if not THE easiest- hack I've ever built. And I've built quite a few. But as the previous poster stated. An AS Rock gave me a lot of grief. And I did an MSI B75 too, but I can't remember what I did with it. It must be somewhere.

Gigabyte Mobo's : My Tale of Woe

As I indicated, yesterday I got round to testing board no.2. This necessitated removing the CPU from board no.1. For testing purposes I used a very lightweight air cooler. Needless to emphasize I used extra special super delicate care doing this, duly put the plastic lid back on the socket and...

Gigabyte Mobo's : My Tale of Woe

What is the rated spring tension ? Really, Baldrick ? Of a CPU cooler spring ? OK, I'll play. Are you referring to Hooke's law or do you want the finite tensor analysis ? Anyhoo, the TWO boards returned from RMA yesterday. I have the impression they 'fixed' the UD3, and indeed it now works...

Gigabyte Mobo's : My Tale of Woe

Neptons are spring loaded and the mounting hardware is 'idiot proof', i.e. you tighten the screws of the cooler until you run out of thread. I have used this cooler in the past on other systems without issues.

Gigabyte Mobo's : My Tale of Woe

I have been building PC's since around 89. I build at least 5 a year, and regularly take theme apart, put them back together and do all kinds of crazy experiments with them. I have built hacks with 945's, P55's, Z68's, Z87's, B75's, and many more. I have also used Gigabyte mobo's for donkey's...

    Monitor creates 5 ghosts

Well, it starts in the wrong res. It behaves fine on the other monitors in the house, and even on the TV. Just not on this new "+%¨*£è!'!"#é!è"@'§!&!!!! Asus thing. Where's my 4 pound hammer

    Monitor creates 5 ghosts

I got this Asus gaming monitor a few weeks back. Today I reinstalled my Hack Mini. It has a 3570K and I'm using the on board graphics. The monito is creating 5 'copies' of the screen, like really blurry ghosts. The issue is the monitor. It works fine on other monitors. Problem is I don't know...

Need help with 5960X and GA-X99-UD5 WIFI with El Capitan

I've tried with an X99 sabertooth and the X99-UD5 and for the life of me I can't get it working. I've tried every single method on this board and no luck. Sometimes it boots the installer, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it hangs on bluetooth, sometimes on PCI, sometimes somewhere else. I gave up.

Any hardware builds that require no installation of kexts or further tinkering?

I haven't heard of any that require nothing at all, but the 3570K on the B75 Gigabyte platform I still have requires very little. Boot from Unibeast, install OSX, run Multibeast and install the network and sound drivers and you're done. The Z87 with a 4770K was equally easy to deal with...

    ASUS X99-Does it work??

I have an X99 Sabertooth with a 5820 at the moment and I can't make it work. I've gotten to the point where I did a minimal install on a B75 platform, pulled out the SSD and put it in the X99. I can boot if I boot of a USB stick and then choose to boot off the SSD, but there's no USB support...

Can't even get to install : X99 sabertooth and 5820

I've tried with 0x2000 and 0x3000, results are identical. So recap : If I try with just the VoodooTSync thingy, I get stuck at the first load, the OsxAptioFixDrv error. If I replace OsxAptioFixDrv2 with OsxAptioFixDrv it DOES continue for a while, but then there's a kernel panix along...

Can't even get to install : X99 sabertooth and 5820

So, this is what I did so far... I restarted and made a new stick with unibeast. I downloaded the Clover Configurator, figured out how it worked and made the mods linuxrox suggested. I downloaded the VoodooTSync thingie and put it on the stick. I proceeded to install, and got a ways...

Can't even get to install : X99 sabertooth and 5820

You've already lost me. I've discovered the existence of the 'Clover Configurator' (looks handy), found out how to mount the EFI partition on it, but on how to 'open config.plist' I am at a complete loss. I'll keep looking, but I'm ogling the Mossberg again. Edit : I think I found it...

Can't even get to install : X99 sabertooth and 5820

I had a perfectly good 4770K but I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I got an Asus X-99 Sabertooth board, a 5820 E, some DDR4, watercooling, and reused the GTX980, powersupply and the HAF-X and got to work. I've made a new USB with the latest Capitano and made it bootable with unibeast...
