    Upgrading Old Build from Chimera/Yosemite

Hi all, It's been a while since I've been on these forums! I have an aging but still kicking Z68 build that I've been lazy about updating but am now planning on getting to the latest and greatest. I hear OS upgrades are cake once you're on Clover, so I figure I might as well update to High...

    Fresh install, retain users folder?

Thanks, Going Bald. I'm about to do a fresh install - fingers crossed nothing gets messed up. Will update this thread later!

    Fresh install, retain users folder?

Hi all, I have tried and failed thus far to upgrade to Yosemite on my SSD. My home folder is currently on a separate drive, and until I get Yosemite installed I'm booting off a third HDD with a backup (Mavericks) clone made in CCC. My question is, can I erase my SSD and do a fresh install of...

Legacy USB Support option in Unibeast 5.0.1

I was wondering this myself. I decided not to use it (because it's never applied to Z68 before), especially since I am running the UEFI bios. Then again, I have yet to successfully install Yosemite, so maybe I'm wrong. I am getting an error that no one else is: at the end of the install, it...

"Building boot caches on boot helper partition failed"

Anyone? I remade my unibeast drive and tried again, but no luck. If I try to boot the drive that I tried to install on I get the mach kernel error. I'm using Unibeast 5.0.1.

"Building boot caches on boot helper partition failed"

Hi all, I made a Unibeast drive today for Yosemite and successfully booted into my installer. (I am trying to upgrade from Mavericks). I started the install, and it went for a while, but at the end I got this error message and it told me to restart: "Building boot caches on boot helper...

Multibeast 6 fail on audio driver install

Hey toleda/all, I updated to 10.9.1 yesterday, and tried to reinstall my audio drivers (ALC889 w/ DSDT) as per usual. However, MultiBeast gives me an error message ("installation failed" - log text below). I tried installing through Multibeast 5.5, but that failed as well. I then tried...

Multibeast 6 fail on audio driver install

Hey MacMan, I was trying to reinstall my ALC889 (w/ DSDT) audio driver today on my main rig and I kept getting an "installer encountered an error message." Any idea why that is? Thanks, Seamus 12/18/13 21:40:48 - Starting MultiBeast 6.0.1-20131109 12/18/13 21:41:13 - Installing...

Having issues with Mountain Lion 10.8.5 on Haswell CPU

Try booting with GraphicsEnabler=Yes and see if that changes anything. Also, are you trying to boot into the installer or an already-installed partition?

Are you using a graphics card or the integrated cpu graphics?

Having issues with Mountain Lion 10.8.5 on Haswell CPU

VGA is like not a thing in OS X. Just use HDMI or DVI. In other words, OSX does not support analog display output and it's not even worth trying to get it working.

How about the HD4600 framebuffers? And for the Intel Graphics, how do we know which FB we should be using?

Are you using the upper HDMI port? Are you booting with -x?

    Z87N-WIFI with 4670K and HD4600 won't boot...

It turned out that the HDMI port was the culprit! Switched to the upper one and immediately everything worked perfectly. Thanks, eelhead. This info should be posted in a guide thread somewhere as this has been driving me crazy for the past few weeks. Any news from toleda on HDMI audio?

    Z87N-WIFI with 4670K and HD4600 won't boot...

I was hoping someone have some suggestions for my friend (snackbardan) and me as we try to get his Z87N-WIFI up and running. He's using the integrated HD4600 graphics on an i5-4670K over HDMI to a 1024x768 TV. We updated the BIOS today to F4 and installed OS X (using 10.8.5 and Unibeast 2.1). We...

    Anyone tried a Gigabyte GA-Z87N-WIFI

We're still working on getting it set up; it's proving challenging. The sound should work, though.

About to attempt first casemod. Any tips on securing the PSU?

Another Seamus! Why didn't I sign up for that username?? Anyway, what I'm doing with my G5 mod is putting the PSU upside-down up where the HDD bay is originally. It fits perfectly into that top shelf, and all you have to do is dremel out a hole for the fan and drill some screw holes for it...

    Anyone tried a Gigabyte GA-Z87N-WIFI

I just completed a Z87N build with a friend (build thread coming soon!) and it's up and running more or less with ML. It still doesn't have graphics acceleration for the HD4600 iGPU, but this should come with Mavericks and 10.8.5. We also haven't tried to enable sound yet (it's hooked up to a...

    that build works ???

That card should work. It really depends a lot on the port layout and how much the manufacturer has deviated from the "reference design" put out by the chipset manufacturer and used by apple. Your other parts are fine, so there's no reason not to give it a go. Just remember to use...
