Hey there, I bought a 4430s a long time ago with the Celeron and upgraded it to a 2410m i5. I've got everything up and running and it works beautifully. The only thing I'm noticing is that it is running really heavy on the CPU, so the fan is running super heavy and hot during basically any video...
Hey guys, long time no see. I looked but didn't find a thread about ivy bridge processors. I know they're the same slot as our CPUs so I'm wondering is it possible to upgrade?
This is happening to me as we have the same camera and used the same kext. It now shows up as FaceTime hd camera but no picture unless i reduce the res and no picture at all in face time or photo booth. Any ideas?
Can you open the back real quick and see what the model number on the card is? My 4430s shipped with an atheros AR5b195 and installing this kext (viewtopic.php?f=259&t=35475&hilit=AR5B195) helped out. I had to manually add the first wifi network but now it works great. Also I know the wifi...
Yeah thats what I was gonna say, the only thing that doesn't work is iMovie. I'm going to install the kext and see if that changes.
Edit: No change in functionality.
So I remember hearing about someone who had a like a DIY ViDock, an external express card graphics card... Anyone have a link or remember what it was called?
I have an i5 with no problems. And the processor is upgradeable. Just buy an i5 on ebay and then you can sell the i3 to make up more than half the costs. The upgrade is SUPER easy, 5 screws and a little bit of thermal paste.
I have a 4430s with a fully working webcam and microphone. The only exception is iMovie because its programmed to accept apple device id's only I think.
Yep mine's working 100%. Didn't have to do anything but the installer. It MAY be operating at a lower resolution than it should or it could just be bad lighting.
Edit: With some toying around I found out the webcam is working in FaceTime and photo booth but not iMovie. SUCKS cause I want to do...
For some reason on the 4430s my wifi button controls the Screen Brightness Up button hahah. I got it though I just had to manually enter the wifi credentials.
Take it back. It worked perfectly for a couple hours then randomly stopped showing networks again. Full system reinstall, update, and kext reinstall yield no results
