Yeah, I saw that.......but that wasn't it....and I did some head-banging on the wall for a bit, until I realized NIC was turned off in the BIOs. DOH! RTL8111 for this Dell Inspsiron 3847.
Things are coming together nicely on this install...
Now I just need to work on power management and sleep!
Thank you @jcds83.
Taking some clues from your config.plist, I have managed to reach the Mac OS install screen.
I have a feeling the main parameter I changed that worked was framebuffer-stolenmem. You had <00000002> and I had <00003001> from the vanilla guide.
Thanks again.
Now I have an...
Hi all. I'm posting on multiple forums to see if anyone can help:
I've been loving the transition over to Opencore to keep our hackintoshes running great. I have fresh Catalina installs on a GA-Z87X i7 4770 & GA-Z390 i9 9900 so far and am happy with the results.
Using Opencore 0.5.7, I'm...
YES! I should have figured this was the direction of troubleshooting.
I am now hanging on ACPI errors as shown with RX580 in PCI slot 1.
I think I will have to spend the time to rebuild a fresh Clover install.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
I'm trying to switch over to a NVME boot drive on my z87X.
I have a Samsung 970 PRO on a PCIe adapter here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F9SMXQ1/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
I have successfully cloned my boot drive and updated to Mojave and the drive works great.
However, when the PCIe card...
Has anybody else tried this ‘success story’ above to get 970 EVO Plus working internally on their machines? My brand new beautiful stick is still an expensive paper weight....was holding out for some kind of update....
Hey all,
Just called Total Tech Solutions who handles Samsung SSD customer care, and they told me Samsung is aware of the problem and is investigating. Period.
ohhh what to do what to do.....
Aww MAN!! I, too, wish I had found this thread before buying a brand new 970 EVO plus!! Everytime I plug it in to my PCIx8 slot, I lose graphics from my RX580. In that state, I managed to initiate the drive and CCC my system drive over, but when I boot into it, KP.
Might have to return and...
THANK YOU!!
Am in the process of trying to upgrade my old LGA 775 board to High Sierra and was having problems with my SSD drive plugged into ICH10R port, and following these directions fixed it. Much appreciated!
And now, to solve drives off of an old PCI SATA card.....
I, too, am looking for a new cheap PCI card for SATA expansion. I was running a SD-PEX40054 in an old P5Q running SIERRA, and am in the middle of trying out a clean install of HIGH SIERRA, but the Sil3124 kext I was using to drive the card in Sierra is KPing in High Sierra.
So.....no active...
Update: I've done a few more restarts and I'm puzzled. If I connect an external Thunderbolt drive directly, it mounts okay. But as soon as I connect it to a Thunderbolt dock (Akitio Thunder2 Dock), it won't mount. A firewire drive connected through the dock, as well as an Apple Thunderbolt to...
You know, that was the case for me for a while too in Sierra but right now (10.12.5), I'm seeing "No drivers are loaded". I also can't get my thunderbolt to firewire to work right now, even though I see a Thunderbolt drive if attached at boot time....
I'm trying to get my legacy Motu firewire...
SOLVED!!
In case anyone stumbles across this needing an answer:
Following info in this thread, I finally was able to create a USB boot drive using Rufus, and using the installed DOS, flashed the firmware of the card to 2.3.0.1058
No more weird, excruciatingly long boot times - yay!
I realize this is quite an old post, but I'm wondering if anybody on this thread had troubleshooted through conflicting SATA controllers on their board and PCI cards? I have a rig that won't boot up when the card mentioned here, Syba SD-PEX40054, is plugged in.
More in my post...
Okay, I've narrowed it down to the Marvel SE889230 Chipset.
As my motherboard has 4 SATA ports that are run with this chipset, there seems to be some kind of conflict.
If I disable the Marvel SATA controller in the MB bios, the rig boots fine and I see drives that are attached to the card. But...
[EDIT: See next post]
I just installed an old Syba SD-PEX40054 PCIe SATA card to try and get some more drives up and running in my rig:
GA-Z87X-UD7-TH running 10.11.6 with Clover.
I believe the card uses the Marvell 88SE9230 Chipset.
On boot, I notice the Gigabyte splash screen flashes up for...
