    cheap good simple graphics card

Glad I found this thread...I'm also on HD3000 and looking to upgrade to a graphics card with HDMI out for audio (instead of going through the edits to get HDMI audio working from the mb). Does HDMI audio from the card posted above work OOB?

    TV or Monitor?

most monitors of the same size as a HDTV are cheaper since there are no speakers or tuner. You should have no problem using a LCD with a PS3 (most current mid-level and even low-level monitors include DVI and some also include HDMI). The only consideration is resolution...most HDTV's max out...

    which Mac Famliy/Product ?

I think there might be minor speed variations between the profiles, as evidenced by benchmarks. but for people who need certain configurations such as dual monitor support with HD3000, we really have no choice except to use the smbios definition that works for our needs. However, from what...

    which Mac Famliy/Product ?

Depends on what hardware you have. The default Mac Pro profile worked on mine initially, but if I changed to the latest mac pro profile, I kernal panicked. Now I have dual monitors and have to use a mac mini smbios in order to enable dual monitors with the intel HD3000 graphics. It's mostly...

    Mini Build--Too Hot

This is not too hot. That temp range seems normal. My system under idle is around 30C, and at full load (encoding video) peaks at around 60C.

Please help me with multi beast for audio on GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3

Glad to hear f10 works. I wanted to play it safe so was ready to flash to f9 regardless of which version I received, but received f9 anyway so saved myself a step.

    LION?

I believe that's just the way it is...hack- or macintosh. Just open finder, grab the "Applications" folder on the left pane and drag it to the dock to the right side where the other stacks are.

Please help me with multi beast for audio on GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3

I just built a system using the same MB, but stayed at BIOS version f9 (which came from the factory, althouhg I was ready to flash it) because I didn't see a DSDT.aml file for f10. In multibeast, I installed the first 2 (of three options) in the audio section.

Bootscreen Hangs with External Hard Drive Plugged In

I ended up just tearing the drive out of the external case and installing it internally. Also did the same with my external 3tb drive. Everything seems to work fine now, and dont' have to deal with separate power supplies for the external drives now either.

Bootscreen Hangs with External Hard Drive Plugged In

Just finished my build yesterday...have the same problem and the external drive is a time machine backup drive. Gonna try out the suggestions later today to see if anything works, or I may just shove it into the case and make it an "internal" back up drive.

Problems with Lion - Could it be my GA-Z68MA-D2H?

I see you have a Core i3-2100, which has intel HD 2000 graphics which isn't supported by Lion, so you can't use onboard graphics.

    Proposed build with - GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 with Intel HD3000 (?)

Actually, I think I'm going to ditch the gfx and still go i5-2500k with HD3000 under lion and if all works well, migrate to an SSD. I was reading about builds with i7-2600k and don't really see any advantage for my uses.

    Am i underpowering myself?

if you're intending on using HD3000 graphics, then make sure you get the i5-2500k...the non-"k" only has HD2000 which isn't supported in lion.

Decent motherboard for i5 build using HD 3000 graphics?

Cool, keep us updated. I'm planning on building a hack using the same motherboard and processor and using HD3000, so really interested how well this turns out (although I'm planning on going with either a super-duper cheap case just to get it built as a proof of concept, or going with the...

    Barebones kit - i5-2500k, 8gb, Radeon HD6870, 120gb SSD

Not sure about the prices in the bundle since I didn't compare, but I suspect you may not be saving too much versus buying these components individually.

    Barebones kit - i5-2500k, 8gb, Radeon HD6870, 120gb SSD

Hey, just saw this barebones kit and was wondering if it would work. Looks like motherboard is in the DSDT database and GPA is supported, and includes a 120gb SSD.. I'm going to go the "custom" route because I want an i7-2600k w/o an SSD (gonna wait for prices to fall further before taking the...

    Corsair Vengeance Question

It would probalby work if the new RAM is the same spec as the existing...not sure about performance impacts though, and not sure if any performance impact is actually large enough to be of concern.
